Amazon is seeking an Operations Engineer to support the Amazon Logistics Innovation & Design Engineering team scale. This individual will be responsible to drive adoption and performance of new technology in the field. With the increased scope of automation, you will lead field pilots and partner with Operations to drive adoption of new technology. You will lead the analysis of the technology performance to ensure it meets the goals and success criteria.
Responsibilities include:
· Responsible for driving performance of new technology on site to meet success criteria with the use of data and operational metrics
· Serve as the technical test, integration, and implementation lead for major subsystems being installed in production facilities for the first time.
· Document issues and investigate possible root causes for presentation to the design team
· Perform field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production product issues
· Iteratively improve field products as either interim or long-term mitigation to issues uncovered.
· Develop and continuously improve technical and design specifications for automated and non-automated Material Handling Equipment in the Amazon Last Mile Network
· Initiate and partially lead Kaizen events and Gemba walks on site
· Review and sign-off ownership for specification and design deviations and change requests on global level
· Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the global AMZL Engineering Organization
· Work closely with Deployment teams by providing technical subject matter support to help implement standard-compliant automated solutions in the field
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· · Bachelor's degree in Engineering
· Strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated Material Handling Equipment
· Extensive experience in a similar project or program management role,
· Extensive experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools
Experiences with benchmarking technical equipment and metrics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· MBA, MSc or Meng (Engineering, Automation, Robotics or equivalent)
· Strong technical background in relevant fields of automated and non-automated Material Handling Equipment
· Extensive experience in a similar engineering role
· Extensive experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools
· 6-Sigma Black Belts a plus
· Advanced data analysis skills and experienced in using supporting tools e.g. Minitab, JMP, MS Excel, MS Access or equivalent
· Experience with financial and statistical modelling
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence and work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies
