Amazon Business (AB) launched in the United States in April 2015 with the vision of delivering a comprehensive procurement solution for business customers of all sizes. AB now serves many large enterprises worldwide. AB has expanded internationally into 8 countries. If you are passionate about building systems the right way and enabling Amazon in building solutions that enable our business customers to find, research, and buy products and services from a vast selection, across multiple devices, marketplaces and regions. These business customers include individual professionals, small businesses to large institutions (and everything in between). The needs of these business customers are different from those of the traditional Amazon customer, so we are reinventing everything from how we display our selection, price our products, provide tailored customer experiences and offering unparalleled customer support.
The role will involve taking the lead role in building solutions related to our ongoing development of Enterprise-class Procurement Systems. Amazon’s store, originally built with individual consumers offers tremendous benefits to businesses, but also several unique problems. Our vast selection of products, fast reliable delivery, and a familiar and easy to use purchasing experience is a key benefit, but business customers also need to ensure that purchases that employees make comply with company policies. Our Enterprise procurement systems give businesses the visibility and control they need to confidently enable them to onboard all of their employees to Amazon Business. Further, our Enterprise procurement systems provide tools to help customers meet unique procurement goals, such as standardizing the selection of key products, or supporting small businesses in their community. Building and expanding these systems to meet the evolving needs of businesses involves changing the very nature of fundamental Amazon systems at extraordinary scale. Challenges to be solved involve how to curate Amazon’s catalog, and build flexible frameworks which can be implemented by global teams to influence and customize the buying experience for the varied needs of businesses.
