Access to justice is broken. We are here to fix it. One part at a time.


Our core mission at Rightstars is to tackle this problem with a community approach, by bringing together citizens, businesses and lawyers, in a transparent, friendly, and simple way.


Today, we estimate that approximately half the World’s population has justice needs that are not met. Whether people are wronged by a greedy landlord, an insurance company reluctant to cover an unfortunate accident or a business partner that broke its promise, they often give up on seeking justice as the process is too complicated, time consuming or expensive.


We think the solution is to connect people with legal problems with lawyers that specialize in those problems. Think of it as a marketplace within a social community. We call it the Justice Valley. These are the values we build it on:


  • Transparency. Not in information overload, but in making the right information accessible for free in an easy way. We also want to uncover the many hidden parts of the legal world. The fees you pay. The customers a lawyer has and how the services are performed. By opening up, people can select the lawyer they actually want. This will lead to more work in general for lawyers.


  • Simplicity. Laws are complicated, vague and generally written in a language that only few master. Through smart software, lawyers can gain new insights and people can in some instances do it themselves, we call that “DIY Justice”. Overall, simplicity is about solving more issues faster and better.


  • Friendliness. Life is serious. So are legal issues. However, the experience of consuming justice should be approachable and maybe even a little fun. Along the way, we also want to improve the quality of life for lawyers by allowing them to work in a fully digital and flexible environment.


About your role

Your scope of responsibilities will cover the following:


  • Shaping technology vision. After analyzing business goals, you will develop a technical strategy for the company. This step requires collaboration with the co-founders in order to align the strategy with the business vision. To shape the vision, you need to combine the best of two worlds: technical skills and business acumen.


  • Building an MVP. You will be responsible for creating an MVP that can gain real-time user feedback as fast as possible. You will first deliver a series of product iterations and be accountable for the quality of the final product.


  • Quality Assurance. Testing is for now dispersed between team members, you will need to come up with the testing system. Besides, you will probably be the only person who knows the architecture well enough to test it meticulously.

 

  • Attracting and mentoring talented developers. You will handle interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training of engineers. Here having a strong network will be of help. You will mentor tech talent who can be later trusted with critical functions, and you need to have the engineering expertise to evaluate technical knowledge.


  • Tech stack: react.js , node.js, typescript, MongoDB. You will suggest likely technical platforms to use on the project. The solution requires such considerations as the number of developers available, the cost of developers, the cost of the framework, deployment time, security, community support, and fitting for business vision.


  • Updating architecture. In the early stages, the app’s architecture will rest on your shoulders. After creating the first versions of a product, there might be a point when an update of architecture is sorely needed.


  • DevOps. We don’t have a DevOps specialist yet.  As a CTO you will step into the shoes as a DevOps until we can hire a dedicated resource. In this role, you will manage domains and SSL certificates, set up servers, databases, third-party tools, and ensure company-wide security.

  • Excellent core engineering skills, both front- and back-end in TypeScript, React and NodeJS
  • Business and project management understanding

  • Experience in leading a team of engineers
  • Fluent in English
