Data Scientist

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• You are a hands-on analyst who is able to dive quickly into Real World Data from various sources
• You apply your experience in mathematical modeling and machine learning methodologies and model selection to drive discovery and refinement of models
• You contribute your technical knowledge as a foundation for product decisions, identify and drive improvements
• You demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset, to transform the way we use data and analytics
• You understand and practice the protection of personal and confidential data

Reporting to the Global Head of Algorithms and Advanced Analytics, you will have an essential part in contributing to the Roche Diabetes Care success story. As a Data Scientist on this team, you will participate in various innovation and development teams based on project priorities.

Your upcoming mission:

• DEVELOP ALGORITHMS AND INSIGHTS: You will determine the data necessary to answer the research question, and access the data from diverse sources
• PRODUCE HIGH QUALITY ANALYSES: You will apply statistical analysis and advanced analytical methods (AI/ML) that are problem appropriate
• INTERPRET AND SHARE RESULTS: You will share findings with internal stakeholders and scientific communities; publish results; and participate in external conferences
• COLLABORATE & SHAPE: You will collaborate within Roche Diabetes Care and the broader Roche community and with external partners

Essential skills for this mission:

• MSc, PhD or similar qualification in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics/ biostatistics, physics/engineering disciplines, computer science, mathematics)
• Knowledge and experience in data sciences (statistics, machine learning)
• Demonstrable experience working proactively and delivering results in a fast-moving, dynamic environment with significant uncertainty
• Strong technical depth in at least one Data Analytics area (statistical techniques, machine learning, data visualization) and an eagerness to learn other areas
• Fluency in two or more statistical programming languages (SAS, R, Python, Matlab)
• Strong collaboration skills and excellent communication skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset and self-direction, with a servant leadership disposition
• Ability to work in a matrix environment with global, team members coming from different disciplines (e.g. business, operations, etc.)

Bonus skills:

• PhD in a quantitative discipline
• Experience analyzing large data sets using appropriate tools (SQL, parallelization, Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in the healthcare field
