Position Purpose:
The Financial Accountant will report to the Head of Accounting who is responsible for financial reporting and compliance in Spain covering 4 legal entities with an annual turnover of approximately 75M EUR.
The Financial Accountant is expected to participate in the monthly close process to meet Corporate reporting requirements as well as in the statutory audit process. As part of this role, the individual will ensure timely and accurate financial results and participate in providing detailed analysis about the results.
The Financial Accountant will be an important member of the accounting team, will work on process improvement, driving efficiencies within the department and throughout the company, and will promote a cooperative and helpful environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has already had a start in Accounting and/or Audit and would like to develop his/her career in this area.
Key Job Activities:
- Assist the Head of Accounting with the external audit and Statutory Statements report
- Support the Head of Accounting in Internal Audit and ensuring all policies and controls are followed.
- Collaborate in preparing timely and accurate corporate reporting packages each month in accordance with set guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Team to ensure all journal entries are prepared correctly and posted.
- Perform various account analyses to explain variances and identify any required adjusting journal entries.
- Maintain reconciliation schedules for all assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve any unreconciled items within set time period.
- Assist in analyzing and preparing reports, KPI’s and performance statistics/graphs that form part of the finance reporting pack or as ad-hoc reporting.
- Proactively work to support other members of the Finance and Accounting teams.
Education:
- Preferred Education: in Bachelor`s Degree
- Experience (EMEAA):
- Demonstrates the ability to write and speak fluently in English, in addition to fluency in Spanish.
- Financial reporting and internal controls experience e.g. IFRS, audits, Statutory Statements reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize & meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Excellent I.T. skills (Word & PowerPoint) with advanced Excel (basic formulas, pivots tables, “if” statements, lookups as a minimum).
- Must be efficient and enthusiastic, striving to improve processes and encourage positive change across the business.
- Demonstrates ability to identify and solve problems both individually and as a member of a team.
- Experience within a multi-site operation and large global company or Big 4 is desirable.
