Temprano Capital is an investor and developer with a focus on the Student Residence business in Spain and Portugal. It has a pipeline of 10,000 purpose-built student housing beds, either operational or under development or over which it has rights to purchase, across 23 assets in the region’s main university cities.

Across its activities, Temprano’s strategic aim is on the creation and improvement of net income deriving from its portfolio through asset selection, development, repositioning, and management of operational expenses.

Temprano was founded by Neil Jones and James Preston in 2013 and today is owned by Neil and Brookfield.

Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy.
• Manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.
• Work with the accounting team to resolve any reporting errors or discrepancies.
• Coordinate the Group’s annual audit with the independent auditors.
• Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure Local GAAP and IFRS compliance.
• Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-plus years of experience as external auditor. Big-4 or international experience is a plus.
• Experience in Real Estate Residential/Hospitality is desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
• Advanced understanding of accounting and reporting standards (Spanish GAAP and IFRS), gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues. Knowledge of Portuguese GAAP is a plus.
• Experience with producing and reviewing financial statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/quarterly/year end close process.
• Advanced MS office package user.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team-work oriented.
• Experience with Microsoft accounting software (Dynamics NAV/AX/365) is a plus.
• Fluent in English, Portuguese is a plus.
