Position Summary:


Responsible for the operation of the Madrid warehousing and distribution function, acting as the Import and Export coordinator for the site. Leading autonomous department to deliver organizational and operational results in line with the site strategy and specific objectives for the department(s) including:


Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, Attendance, Training and Development


Responsibilities:


  • Own staffing and development including coaching, training and qualification of department teams to ensure the acquisition of all vital skills to achieve the overall warehouse operational plan, troubleshoot deviations from process autonomously
  • Role-model the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4i Values and Operations Competencies and use as a day-to-day guide in decision making within your department
  • Use all available resources to achieve your department goals.
  • Take accountability for the results of the department, and responsibility for the decisions made. Hence, you must ensure that any operatives are clear on role - their individual responsibilities, operating principles, and that the operating systems are followed and maintained at all times.
  • Establish and maintain the standards for your department for safety, quality, 5s standard, attendance/cover, and other operating systems. Personally role model the implementation and execution of the systems and standards in your department to ensure full implementation of the daily cycle with all associated operating systems.
  • Set daily direction by effectively leading tiered meetings. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Reviewing daily results to establish gaps and priorities
  • Lead troubleshooting of open barriers to the root-cause.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within and between the team members.
  • As Co-Ordinator, you will Implement and follow procedures to ensure compliance with applicable global trade laws and regulations as well as Global Trade Compliance Policy.
  • Handle and update " shipments file" relevant to each delivery
  • Work closely with customs broker to follow-up customs clearance
  • Manage SADS and customs documents
  • Contact with couriers in order to speed up deliveries, lead claims and requests and take on shipping issues
  • Most importantly, you must empower the individuals within department, and develop them into a strong, autonomous and engaged team:
  • Build an environment that encourages individual and team growth.
  • Set clear, comprehensive expectations, set an example, provide meaningful, timely feedback about performance, train and coach to continuously improve individual performance and business results.
  • Learn by doing and guide by example and promote ‘Review and learn’ approach at individual, team and department levels.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Proficient in Spanish and English is essential
  • Expert leader of people (within a Warehousing/operations environment ideally but not essential)
  • Commit to Results - High level of technical and leadership skills and the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Decision Quality - Attention to detail and a systematic approach.
  • Role Model Leader – Hands on approach and flexible demeanour to daily work/responsibilities, ability to lead by example
  • Problem Solving -Effective in technical and organizational troubleshooting to root cause.
  • Communicates Openly - able to communicate reliably within and between teams and is effective in giving and receiving/acting upon feedback.
  • The ideal candidate for this position will need to be self-starting, passionate about developing their personal and technical skills and should also be able to demonstrate the following leadership skills/capabilities:
  • Crafting collaborative relationships by developing strong work relationships, displaying integrity and building trust
  • Delivering consistent results by being willed to take action, demonstrating organizational agility, planning optimally and setting priorities.
  • Navigating sophisticated challenges by understanding/troubleshooting issues, setting clear priorities and direction, involving and aligning internal and external resources.
  • High Dedication to engaging teams and building talent within the organization
