Automotive Product Engineer (subassembly parts)

Position: Automotive Product Engineer (subassembly parts)
Location: Vigo, Spain
PTC Group is recruiting a Product Engineer for a Tier-1, one of our clients from the automotive industry, based in Vigo. They provide clean propulsion and efficient technology solutions for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles as well as off-highway applications. Their products comprise key technologies for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Management of product evolutions/modifications as well as the launch of derived versions: validate feasibility (design, validation, GD&T, etc.), ensure CAD reassembly, check robustness according to customer standards, and update associated documents (Control Plan, specifications, etc.).
- Oversee the CAD designers team in order to implement the modifications of the product: Formalize the evolutions of 3D and 2D definitions and the associated documents.
- Analysis of product non-conformity of metallic subassemblies.
- Drive Product Validation Management (Test plan).
- Ability to propose technical solutions that meet the Customer Technical specifications.
- Technical risks and piloting of launch planning.
- Transmit technical needs to Tier-2 suppliers.
- Monitor the arrival of prototypes and ensure that suppliers meet the technical specifications of the product.
- Participate in continuous improvement teams to improve the quality, costs, and functionality of the parts.
- Control of geometric convergence (GD&T).
- Participate in project review meetings with final OEM customer.
- Collaborate with project managers and other cross-functional organizations to drive goals and define serviceability requirements for new projects.
- Bachelor of Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering degree or similar.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar position in the Automotive sector > 3 years (Product Engineer).
- Valuable experience with metallic subassembly parts (Sheet metal, Stamping, Machining, etc.).
- Experience in the automotive sector in Tier-1 or OEM projects.
- Experience as a CATIA V5 user.
- Training in ISO/ASME dimensioning.
- Languages: English (B2-C1); Portuguese or Spanish are a plus.
- Availability for sporadic trips to clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and willingness to think outside the box.
- Ability to manage and communicate with cross-functional teams efficiently.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Good negotiation, conflict management, and resolution skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to the customer.
