NoOffer DescriptionGrant/funding reference: ED431C2022/06The present contract for research personnel is called with the aim of being able to adequately achieve the objectives of the research project "Axudas para a consolidación e estruturación de unidades de investigación competitivas na modalidade: Grupos de Referencia Competitiva" with reference ED431C2022/06.
This contract will finish at the same time on this fund (31/10/2025).
The Group of Numerical Methods in Engineering (GMNI) is developing a line of research related to the application of computational mechanics techniques and numerical simulations for the study of green hydrogen geological storage systems.
For the development of this line of research and the achievement of its corresponding objectives, it is necessary to hire a Research Support Senior Technician with the tasks described below:The person hired will collaborate in the performance of the following activities and tasks that fall within the objectives of the research line and the project:Study of models for the optimization of the exploitation process of the installation (number and frequency of loading and unloading cycles, maximum and minimum recommended operating pressures, maximum net storage capacity, among other parameters), in order to extend the useful life of the caverns.Validation and analysis of the accuracy and robustness of the methodologies through test cases.Additional InformationEligibility criteria:Evaluation criteria:For the award of the contract, the academic grades will be valued at 60%, where two aspects will be taken into account: 1) the overall grade of the degree, 2) the grades of the subjects in the field of differential equations, numerical methods, HPC computer programming, and mechanics of structures.
The candidate's experience and knowledge in the tasks to be performed in the project will be valued at 15%, in particular in numerical methods for linear and nonlinear structural analysis and their programming.
Other academic merits, such as awards and collaboration scholarships, will be valued at 15%.
The personal interviews of those candidates who exceed 65 points in the previous sections will be valued with 10%.
The minimum score for candidates to be placed on the waiting list is 75 points. The above evaluation criteria will be weighted in accordance with the following scorecard:Academic record (maximum 60 points): A maximum of 40 points will be considered based on the average grade of the degrees' records.
Preference will be given to candidates with degrees in the field of Civil Engineering.
In the case of applications with other engineering degrees (or recognized equivalent master's degrees), a weighting factor of 50% will be applied to the average grade.
In the case of candidates with degrees different from the above, the weighting factor will be 10%.
The points awarded will be weighted according to the average grade of the undergraduate transcript, so that 20 are obtained for having completed the degree and the remaining 20 points will be awarded progressively according to the average grade of the transcript.
The grade obtained for the bachelor's degree may be increased (up to a maximum of 40 points) with a master's degree or equivalent in the same field.
For having taken an official master's degree, 5 points may be awarded and another 5 points proportionally depending on the grade obtained in it.
The remaining 20 points will be assigned according to the grades of the subjects taken by the candidate related to differential equations, numerical methods, mechanics of structures, and HPC computer programming (3 points/6 ECTS).
In the case of these subjects, the same weighting will be applied as for the average grade according to the degree taken.Experience and knowledge related to the activities to be developed (maximum 15 points):Experience in the development of numerical formulations in the field of nonlinear structural mechanics (maximum 10 points).
Each year of experience will be valued with a maximum of 1 point.Programming: Programming knowledge in languages such as Fortran, C, C++ or Matlab and use of computer software as ABAQUS or COMSOL will be valued (1 point each one, maximum 5 points).Other academic merits (maximum 15 points).
Awards or competitive collaboration scholarships obtained in a competitive call will be valued 5 points each.
This score will also be weighted according to their affinity with the scope of the project.
In the case of merits in the field of civil engineering but not directly related to the scope of the project, they will be weighted with 20%.
In other cases, weighting will be zero.Personal interview for the candidates that exceed a score of 65 points in the previous sections (maximum 10 points).Selection processWHERE TO APPLY: UDC online services site.Applications should be addressed to the Office of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transference and include thecall reference .DEADLINE: 5 working days from the day following the publication of the call on the official bulletin board of the UDC online services site.Additional comments:Copy of national identity document.Copy of degree certificate.CV.Responsible declaration that the requirements of the call are fulfilled.Responsible declaration of the veracity of the data stated in the application.

BDNS632932Tasks to be performed:One of the objectives of the project "Hybrid Multiscale System for Short-Term Prediction and Climate Change Projections of Flooding Due to Compound Events (MyFlood)" is to develop a system for both short-term (early warning systems) and long-term (climate change effects) predictions of flooding due to compound events in coastal zones.
This system aims to improve current predictions, providing significant practical implications for flood risk management in coastal areas.
This will require the development of a series of hydrological and hydraulic flood models at both regional (the entire Spanish coast) and local scales (pilot cases). The person hired will collaborate with the other project partners in:Analyzing compound flooding in the pilot cases.Processing and statistically analyzing observed rainfall, discharge, sea level, and wave data.To effectively perform the tasks outlined above, it's advisable that the selected candidate has knowledge of:Additional InformationEligibility criteria:The criteria that will be taken into account to select the person to be hired are those defined in the following link:The selected candidate will be the one who obtains the highest score once the merits presented have been evaluated.
