Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens , LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Reporting to the ASAP|ACE Director, the Administrative Coordinator is a member of an integrated college team and has the responsibilityof performing comprehensive administrative duties to ensure productive ASAP college office functioning and support the program's expansion activities, including program operations, recruitment and communication.
Duties
The ASAP Administrative Coordinator provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College’s ASAP program. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Organizes office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information;
- Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software;
- Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections;
- Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities;
- Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing;
- Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department;
- May supervise office staff and student workers;
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree required.

- Experience in administration of a public service, social service, education, counseling or mentoring program; work with educators and students.

- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work productively in a fast paced, time-sensitive, high volume and dynamic student-focused and customer responsive environment.
- Strong presentation, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work and interact effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with a diverse community of learners, students, faculty and staff .
- Detail orientation and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Computer proficiency using standard office software programs/applications, including ACCESS database and Google Docs.
Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.

Compensation And Benefits

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
