Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Ophthalmology (Ref.: 532555) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in biomedical sciences or a related discipline. Those with experience in animal experiments, basic molecular biology, and cell culture techniques (e.g. mouse handling, tissue dissection/processing/sectioning, immunohistochemical staining, RNA/DNA extraction/processing, qPCR, protein extraction, western blots, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, and cell culture works) would have an advantage. Applicants should also have a strong sense of responsibility, good interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team. The appointee will be involved in research projects related to development of novel pharmacological treatments for ocular diseases and investigations in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection. He/She is expected to be committed to the project schedules and assist with laboratory routines. Those who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 532147) need not re-apply.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532528), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in biomedical sciences, bioengineering, biological sciences, or a related discipline, with experience in single-cell transcriptome analysis, molecular biology, tissue cell culture, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, and animal experiments (e.g. mouse handling, electroretinography, tissue dissection/processing/sectioning, immunohistochemical staining, RNA/DNA extraction/processing, qPCR, protein extraction, western blots, and cell culture techniques). Previous research work experience in ophthalmology/visual science-related translational research, particularly in relation to drug delivery and pharmaceutics, will be desirable. They should also have a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation, an excellent command of written and spoken English, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team.
The appointee will be involved in research projects related to the development of novel pharmacological treatments for ocular diseases and investigations in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection.
