Postdoctoral Position – Regulation of Cell Behavior via Substrate Stiffness Modulation
The Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering research group at the Materials Science and Engineering Department of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) – BarcelonaTECH invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher to participate in the BioFLEX Project. This project is dedicated to the development of flexible nanofibrous hydroxyapatite ceramic membranes and scaffolds with tunable stiffness for tissue regeneration, aiming to elucidate the relationship between mechanical stiffness and cellular behavior to enhance tissue repair.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct cell culture studies using nanofibrous ceramic membranes and scaffolds with variable stiffness.
– Investigate the effects of substrate stiffness on cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.
– Perform and analyze results from molecular biology techniques and quantitative data analysis.
– Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering group.
Requirements
– Experience with cell culture, including adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation assays on 2D/3D substrates.
– Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, digital PCR, electrophoresis, ELISA, plasma nucleic acid isolation, and flow cytometry.
– Experience with fluorescence confocal microscopy methods and quantitative data analysis.
– Background in mechanobiology is highly advantageous.
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit the following documents to [email protected]:
– Motivation letter
