Context/Environment
Within the global Component Engineering department, the “Component Structural Analysis” team brings together multicultural engineers in Spain and Belgium. The main tasks of the group are a wide range of advanced technical evaluations and analyses carried out on major nuclear safety class components and piping. The group also provides many services within the framework of the discipline of structural mechanics, such as design activities, factory/workshop follow up and support to nuclear power plant modifications or refueling outage. Areas of expertise include structural analyses, fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments. The main examples of project involvement are long-term operation support, seismic qualification, major component replacement, and plant modifications.
Work Location: Madrid - Spain
Your work location will be at the Madrid office (San Sebastian de Los Reyes). You may be required to travel to provide engineering support directly to our teams performing activities in the nuclear power plants.
Job Description
- Member of the Component Structural Analysis group performing engineering evaluations and analyses of technical products and services within the structural mechanic’s field.
- Responsible for hand calculations as well as finite element analysis calculations in ANSYS to verify the qualification of nuclear power plant components to the appropriate standards.
- Thorough documentation of analyses in English.
- Propose integrated solutions to technical challenges that may arise during projects.
- Participate in international project teams and communicate with relevant parties.
Technical/Academic Qualifications And Experience Required
- MS degree in mechanical engineering
- This position is for an early career engineer (0 to 4 years of experience).
- Interested in mechanical component stress analysis, finite element analysis software for structural analysis.
- Interested in the nuclear industry
- You are fluent in English and have proven report writing skills. French is a plus but not mandatory for the position.
- Previous work experience with ANSYS APDL and/or workbench is plus
- Homeworking up to 50% of the time will be possible after 6 months (more presence in the office will be required for the first 6 months and evaluated after this period)

Buscamos un becario motivado para apoyar en la Evaluación Probabilística de Seguridad (PSA) en plantas de energía nuclear. Esta es una oportunidad única para desarrollar habilidades en el análisis de riesgos y la seguridad de instalaciones críticas, colaborando con un equipo internacional de expertos.
Responsabilidades
- Apoyar en evaluaciones de seguridad y riesgo en sistemas de plantas nucleares.
- Participar en la modelización de eventos internos y externos, como incendios e inundaciones.
- Analizar datos y utilizar modelos para proporcionar información clave a los operadores de las plantas.
- Colaborar con equipos de proyectos en tareas técnicas y de gestión de plazos.
- Elaborar informes técnicos y documentación de apoyo.
- Estudiante de último año de Ingeniería (Industrial, Nuclear, Mecánica, o afines).
- Conocimientos en análisis de riesgo y seguridad industrial (se valorará experiencia con herramientas de PSA/PRA como Risk Spectrum).
- Capacidad analítica y atención al detalle.
- Nivel alto de inglés (imprescindible para la redacción de informes y trabajo con equipos internacionales).
- Habilidades organizativas y capacidad para trabajar en equipo.
- Disponibilidad para realizar prácticas en Madrid.
- Experiencia práctica en una empresa de referencia en el sector energético.
- Posibilidad de aprendizaje con expertos en el área de seguridad nuclear.
- Oportunidad de trabajar en proyectos internacionales.
