The role of a Linux Desktop Support Engineer at Canonical
You will be accountable for delivering an outstanding technical support experience on the full Desktop and Server technical stack at Canonical. From problem qualification to full resolution, you will own and manage your cases. When needed, you will transfer your cases to your colleagues or involve senior engineers.
Your day to day job is to provide technical expertise, be an excellent communicator and a service-oriented professional. Every day you will have to make judgement calls to prioritise customer issues and maximise your effectiveness. You will participate in various training sessions, team gatherings and Company events.

What your day will look like
Your day to day duties will include:
- Work from your remote home office and provide technical support for employees.
- Be available to take ownership of new cases via telephone, email and web
- Act as an internal customer advocate keeping them updated in a timely manner
- Ensure that each support case owned by you is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting the right expectations and fulfilling your commitments.
- Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing articles, ensuring shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers.
- Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication.
- Prioritise your work in order to accomplish the most important and urgent tasks first
- Keep on learning as our products and services grow and evolve
- Understanding Ubuntu development process to be able to set customer expectations correctly on timeline for a fix.
- Maintain regular communication and information exchange with the rest of the team, locally and remotely
- Identify and suggest any opportunities to provide a better service
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
- Bachelors or equivalent four year degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university. Preferable majors: Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.
- Experience with system performance troubleshooting
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting (collecting logs and stack traces, fine-tuning by editing configuration files)
- Experience with Linux integration with other environments (authentication/directory services, network file systems, etc.)
- Experience with Linux server administration
- Programming fundamentals in any language (bash, python, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C or C++, Go)
- Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change and handle the pressure of a customer facing job
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
- Experience supporting virtualized environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare)
- Experience with other open-source desktop technologies
- Active contribution to open-source projects/forum/code
- Experience with Linux Kernel

About the role
Technical Account Manager will be the entry point (point of contact) together with Viaccess Project Manager to all requirements and topics raised by Orange Spain and will provide the following services and activities:
✓ Technical expertise of Viaccess Orca products including:

¿Qué esperamos de ti?
Tu rol como Backend Developer en este equipo crítico incluirá
- Contribuir al crecimiento de la empresa y desarrollar nuevas funcionalidades utilizando las últimas tecnologías.
- Aplicar las metodologías estándar de código limpio pruebas y estándares de codificación.
- Mejorar el código y las funcionalidades existentes.

- Participar en todo el ciclo de vida del desarrollo de soluciones incluido el diseño desarrollo implementación y mantenimiento de funciones nuevas y existentes.
- Ser dueño del proceso de tu desarrollo desde el código hasta la producción (diseño desarrollo y pruebas).
- Mejorar el rendimiento de nuestra base de datos mediante la refactorización de consultas o el diseño de nuevas soluciones escalables.
- Comprender y contribuir a los procedimientos de CI/CD.
- Tienes experiencia en la construcción de aplicaciones web con PHP y Laravel. Nuestro producto principal está escrito en PHP (+4 años).
- Tienes experiencia en la construcción de SPA s con ReactJs o librerías similares (+2 años).
- Tienes amplia experiencia con MySQL (+4 años).
- Tienes experiencia con HTML y CSS (+2 años) incluyendo framewroks de estilos como Bootstrap o Tailwind.
- Te sientes cómodo trabajando con GIT y has utilizado comandos como stash rebase cherry-pick entre otros.
- Estas familiarizado con entornos linux y la consola de comandos.
- Si tienes experiencia con AWS DigitalOcean Azure u otra herramienta de cloud server es una ventaja.
- Si tienes experiencia desarrollando aplicaciones web de alto tráfico es una ventaja.
- Si has trabajado con Docker es una ventaja.

Requisitos:
.- Máster/Licenciatura universitaria en Ingeniería (Telecomunicaciones, Informática) o ramas afines.
.- Certificado: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate como mínimo, Professional deseable.
.- Nivel alto de inglés.
.- Experiencia en el diseño de patrones de arquitectura tradicionales (tier-3 o SOA),
patrones modernos (event-driven), microservicios (contenedores) y serverless.
.- Exposición a tecnologías en la nube (AWS, Azure, Private), Windows, Linux, Seguridad y Redes.
.- Sólida experiencia en la construcción de sistemas altamente escalables, seguros, eficientes y resistentes.
.- Cómodo con la arquitectura detallada y la entrega práctica utilizando la infraestructura
como código.
.- Experiencia liderando el diseño de la arquitectura de la solución en nube pública.
.- Control de código fuente e integración continua / Delivery pipeline: Git, TeamCity/Jenkins, Terraform.
.-Experiencia liderando el diseño de la arquitectura de seguridad y configuración (IAM, Monitoring and Logging, cifrado, etc.) y trabajo con Arquitectos de SW, Desarrolladores.

.- Experiencia práctica en el diseño de arquitecturas nativas en cloud y/o Event-driven.
.- Experiencia práctica en la construcción y mantenimiento de Cluster de Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE)
.- Experiencia práctica en la gestión y despliegue de contenedores en Kubernetes: Jenkins, ArgoCD/GitOps.
.- Experiencia en la construcción, configuración de componentes en AWS: EKS, RDS, S3, EC2, EFS, Lambda, Cloudwatch, etc.
.- Experiencia en la construcción, configuración de componentes en Azure: Windows, VM´s, Web Apps, SQL Database, Virtual Network, Azure AD, etc.
.- Experiencia prática en la gestión del ciclo de vida de desarrollo de software y gestión de código y pipelines de CI/CD con herramientas como Jenkins, Github, Gitlab, etc.
.- Creación de imágenes de servidor y contenedores (usando Packer, Ansible, etc.)
.-Habilidades / experiencia básica en desarrollo de software como python y scripting como shell.
.- Experiencia en la optimización de despliegues en la nube desde velocidad, resiliencia, escalabilidad y costo.
.- Entendimiento de conceptos, protocolos y configuración de seguridad (autenticación, autorización, cifrado, gestión de secretos).
.- Conocimiento de Data Warehouses, Data Analytics y Business Intelligence.
.- Conocimiento de las mejores prácticas de APIs (restful, graphql) y microservicios.
.- Sólida y demostrada experiencia en gestión de equipos. Trabajando en proyectos ágiles usando Scrum y Kanban.
