Helm Recruitment is working on an Exclusive retained project to hire a General Manager of Freight Brokerage for an exciting new trading platform.

As General Manager, you will be Building the dry bulk brokerage department from scratch, including the required team, organization and systems.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Managing and developing the Brokerage requirements and P&L.
• Building a strong network of Vessel owners and securing the best prices for the users.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with new carriers and co-brokers
• Negotiating and booking available freight in a cost-effective manner.
• Managing services related to freight such as FFA hedging, bunker hedging, agency relationships, etc
• Building, motivating, and leading a high-performance brokerage team; attracting, recruiting, and retaining required members of the team.

The ideal candidate is an experienced ship broker who has worked in a leadership/desk head role with experience of Handy/Supramax. Candidates should have an established network of owners and operators in the dry bulk shipping industry and the skills to negotiate, persuade, motivate, and influence others.

This position will ideally be based in Madrid, but could potentially be set up in a number of other European shipping hubs.
