Meta (Facebook) has set the goal to become a ‘Metaverse company’ in 5 years, Apple has recently launched state of the art AR glasses, companies from Louis Vuitton to Samsung are already using augmented reality to create immersive premium customer experiences and the AR industry will grow from 6,12 billion USD in 2021 to 98 billion USD in 2028.
This Unity Lighting Artist role is key to porting a PC experience into a fully working VR Environment for the Meta Quest 3, working hand in hand with developers emphasizing both creative and technical capabilities required for successful VR experiences.

Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Lighting: Create and implement lighting setups within Unity that complement and enhance the VR environment for Meta Quest 3, ensuring that the aesthetics align with project goals.
- Optimize Lighting Solutions: Develop lighting solutions that are optimized for performance on Meta Quest 3, ensuring high-quality visuals without compromising the VR experience.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the team to integrate lighting that fits the current PC build.
- Performance Testing: Regularly test and refine lighting settings in VR scenarios to maintain optimal performance and prevent issues such as frame rate drops or motion sickness.
- Maintain Project Deadlines: Manage lighting tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and production milestones, ensuring timely progression in project phases.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and solve technical problems related to lighting and rendering, collaborating with the technical team to implement fixes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that lighting passes quality control checks, adhering to both technical specifications and artistic direction.
- Documentation: Document lighting processes and setups clearly for use by the team, ensuring that work is reproducible and well-understood by other team members.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Unity Lighting for Meta Quest 3: Candidates must be familiar with the specific lighting techniques used in Unity tailored to the Meta Quest 3 VR platform.
- Optimization Expertise for VR Environments: Applicants should have experience optimizing lighting to match and enhance the visual quality of desktop environments when ported to Meta Quest.
- Smooth Performance Delivery in VR: It is crucial that the candidate ensures the lighting and related graphics run smoothly on Meta Quest 3, maintaining high performance standards.
- Experience with Tight Deadlines: We are looking for someone who has proven experience working under tight deadlines, capable of delivering quality results efficiently.
- Portfolio Requirement: Candidates must provide previous work samples specifically for Meta Quest to demonstrate their expertise and quality of work.
- Knowledge of Unity’s Real-time and Baked Lighting Systems: Understanding how to leverage both real-time and baked lighting solutions in Unity is essential.
- Shader Development Skills in Unity: The ideal candidate should be proficient in creating or modifying shaders to optimize the visual and performance impacts of lighting.
- VR Performance Optimization: Applicants need to have a strong understanding of how to optimize scenes for VR to ensure high frame rates essential for a good VR experience.
- Expertise in Photometric Lights, HDR, and Exposure Control: Candidates should be well-versed in these areas to contribute to creating realistic and immersive virtual environments.
- Problem-solving and Pressure Management: The ability to solve technical issues efficiently and work effectively under pressure is a must.
- Collaboration and Communication Skills: Effective communication and teamwork with art directors and developers are crucial for integrating artistic visions with technical implementations.
