Join a dynamic and influential force in Spanish journalism as our new Social Media

Manager! With nearly 30 years of presence in Spain, our national newspaper brand has

grown into a trusted voice across seven regional editions, supporting and connecting

communities and helping foreign residents feel at home.


Now, we’re expanding our digital outreach and looking for a creative, strategic, and hands-on professional to lead our social media efforts across Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.


Tasks

ROLE OVERVIEW


As our Social Media Manager, you'll drive the online presence of our brand and help bring our community-focused stories to wider audiences. You'll craft engaging content, manage campaigns, and build connections that highlight local life, promote cultural integration, and foster meaningful online conversations.


Your work will help shape the way both local and international audiences experience our journalism in the digital space.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and execute social media strategies across Facebook, Instagram, and

    Reddit.


  • Create and publish engaging, high-quality content (posts, videos, stories, and reels) that amplify community voices and events.

  • Monitor and moderate social media activity, responding to comments and engaging with followers.

  • Track key performance metrics to report on reach, engagement, and growth,

    adjusting strategies accordingly.


  • Collaborate with editorial teams to coordinate content calendars and promote

    breaking news, features, and community stories.


  • Attend local events and produce on-the-ground content when relevant.

  • Stay up to date on platform trends and best practices to keep our presence fresh and effective.


Requirements

  • Proven experience managing social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.

  • Basic skills in photo and video editing (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe tools, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of social media analytics, scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Buffer, or similar), and community management practices.

  • Strong writing and communication skills in English. Spanish proficiency is a major

    plus.

  • Creativity, independence, and a strong sense of newsworthiness and audience

    relevance.

  • Based on the Costa del Sol, with legal eligibility to work in Spain.

  • Must have a driving license and access to own vehicle.

  • A portfolio or examples of social media campaigns and posts with measurable

    results.

  • Experience in working with media brands, news outlets, or community-based

    organisations is highly valued.
