About UIC Barcelona

UIC Barcelona is home to around 8,000 students and offers 16 bachelor’s degree

programmes, 30 international double degrees and a wide range of master’s and

postgraduate degrees, as well as continuing education courses in various fields of

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a candidate in the area of Computing Robotics and Neurosciences with a PhD in engineering, mainly in the following fields but not limited to: Industrial

Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, IT or Telecommunications Engineering and

mechanical engineering, who will be required to teach the following areas of knowledge: Data Computing and Robotics , Digital Signal Processing, Modelling and

Numerical Simulations, Neurosciences, Neuroengineering and Orthesis, Electronics Engineering.

As R2-R3 you will have the backing of the support program for the stabilization of

postdoctoral research personnel of the Department of Research of the Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya (ESTAB)

Key responsibilities

• To provide high quality bachelor’s degree-level teaching in your specialist subjects.
• To lead the management and/or coordination of programmes and perform any other academic tasks assigned to you by the Department.
  
  

Selection process

In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with a

Human Resources Excellence in Research Award , which ensures that candidates are

selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves:

• An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
• A public oral defence by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.

• A full-time contract in a dynamic and international scientific environment in the Department of Bioengineering (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) at UIC Barcelona (Health Sciences Campus, Sant Cugat del Vallès)
• A competitive salary based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience Lab bench in a wet lab and use of the Department’s scientific equipment
• Start date: January 2026 (date is negotiable)

Assessment criteria

The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated:

• Excellent track record of publications
• Participation in funded research projects
• Research experience:
• Materials science: biomaterial formulation and material
  
  

characterisation.

• Engineering: 3D printing technology.
• SolidWorks like software for designing.
• Biological sciences: cell seeding onto biomaterials, cell-material interaction characterization
• AQU or ANECA (or similar) accreditation, or be able to apply for it and obtain it in a short period of time.
• Proven record of effective teaching.
• Oral and written proficiency in English.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to get involved in one of the Faculty’s lines of research.
• Ability to supervise and guide both undergraduate and graduate students in their
  
  

research projects.
