We’re seeking a Java Software Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team and help drive innovation across the Vonage Video Platform. This role will focus on enhancing our PaaS backend systems, improving cloud resource control and provisioning, and contributing to scalable architecture design and distributed computing solutions.

As part of the team, you’ll contribute to both new feature development and backend system improvements, with a strong focus on quality, fault tolerance, and performance. You’ll gain hands-on experience with real-time communications, and use data to help improve how we build and scale our services.

Responsibilities Include

• Hands-on software development and system design.
• Implement new features for the cloud based API Gateway, Media Control and Signaling systems for the Vonage Video Platform.
• Contribute to software architectures for a highly distributed network application, resource optimization strategies, and real-time stream/message processing.
• Design and develop approaches to measure, evaluate and improve service quality.
• Collaborate on projects involving signalling fabric and coordinate with other teams.
  
  

• Strong Java 17 coding skills, and willingness to learn more languages.
• JavaScript, and experience with HTML5 APIs all across different browser engine APIs in general.
• Understanding regarding memory management, garbage collection, concurrency.
• Excellent debugging and problem solving skills.
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures.
• Track record of delivering high quality code in a fast-paced environment.
  
  

• Proficiency in the Netty framework for high-performance network programming.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot for building scalable and robust APIs.
• Hands-on expertise with message brokers such as Apache Kafka, ZeroMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar queueing systems.
• Working knowledge of Redis, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, AWS, and ElastiCache for cloud-native and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with Go programming language.
• Understanding of communication technologies, protocols, and standards such as VoIP, SIP, H.323, XMPP, etc.

We are looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer (frontend focus) to join our Video DevTools Team. In this role, you'll contribute to the end-to-end development of both internal and customer-facing tools for the Vonage Video API, helping deliver seamless, engaging visual experiences. As well as playing a key role in crafting innovative solutions that enhance the developer experience—making our Video APIs more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, and maintain the front and back-end of our customer-facing tools and applications for our Video API
• Build user-friendly and responsive interfaces, ensuring an exceptional user experience across devices.
• Develop scalable server-side applications.
• Work with databases and API architectures (REST, GraphQL).
• Set up and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of web applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to deliver new features.
  
  

• Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks like React and Vue.js. Experience with HTML5, CSS3, Sass, and responsive design principles.
• Experience in building backend services using languages such as Python, Node.js, Java and/or Go technologies.
• Strong understanding of API design and RESTful principles.
• Experience with designing and implementing microservices architectures, as well as working with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Understanding of relational databases and using them to power customer facing applications.
• knowledge of automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Chai), and debugging tools for both client and server-side applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD such as Jenkins, Github Actions, or similar tools
• Strong user interface development skills and collaboration with UI/UX designers
• Experience implementing security best practices for web development, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
  
  

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Knowledge of serverless computing, containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Helm).
• Experience with OAuth or other industry adopted authentication methods.
• Familiarity with React-Native development.
