Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Iberia to join our Medical Affairs team. In this field-based role, you will act as a scientific expert and trusted partner to healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and other external stakeholders across Spain and Portugal.
Working closely with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, Marketing and other cross-functional teams, you will support scientific engagement activities, facilitate medical education, and contribute to the generation of local clinical and scientific insights.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Engagement & KOL Management
- Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and healthcare professionals across Iberia.
- Serve as a credible scientific resource, providing balanced, accurate, and up-to-date medical information on Santen products and therapeutic areas.
- Gather and communicate medical and scientific insights from the field to internal stakeholders.
- Increase awareness and understanding of Santen's scientific and medical expertise among external customers.
- Present scientific and clinical data to physicians, pharmacists, formulary committees, hospital practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support the development of scientific educational materials and medical education initiatives.
- Contribute to customer training programs and provide medical training to internal colleagues.
- Respond appropriately to scientific and medical inquiries using the latest available evidence.
- Attend local, national, and international congresses and scientific meetings.
- Engage with experts and opinion leaders to discuss therapeutic advancements and emerging clinical evidence.
- Monitor scientific developments and communicate relevant insights internally.
- Support local Medical Affairs and R&D studies where required.
- Assist with protocol implementation and study administration for Investigator-Sponsored Trials (ISTs) and local Santen-sponsored studies.
- Identify research opportunities that support Santen's products and scientific objectives.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership and KOLs to support local and national publication activities.
- Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, Clinical Development, Medical Information, and other internal stakeholders.
- Support the planning and execution of customer advisory boards when required.
- Foster effective cross-functional communication and collaboration across the organization.
- Develop relationships with patient associations and identify potential partnership opportunities.
- Represent Santen professionally and ethically in all external interactions.
What We're Looking For
Education
- University degree in a Life Sciences discipline, such as: Medicine (MD), Pharmacy, Biology, Optometry, or other relevant scientific discipline.
- Strong ability to understand, learn, and communicate complex scientific, clinical, and medical information.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and educational skills.
- Ability to provide accurate, balanced, and evidence-based responses to scientific and medical questions.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional and international environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently. Creative, innovative, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and commitment to compliance and ethical interactions.
- Advanced English language skills (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel extensively across Spain and Portugal.
- Up to 80% of working time dedicated to external customer interactions.
- Occasional European and international travel as business needs require.
The salary range for the Medical Science Liaison Iberia position is EUR 62,294 - EUR 93,441 gross/year depending on experience.
