The Opportunity
Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and software delivery processes. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure systems through automation and collaboration. You'll be a key contributor to our continuous improvement efforts, driving efficiency and innovation in how we develop and deploy software.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust infrastructure solutions using IaC principles and tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Automate the provisioning, deployment, and scaling of infrastructure components across various environments.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve infrastructure performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, implementing optimized solutions.
- CI/CD Pipeline Automation:
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, reliable, and repeatable software releases.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to understand their workflows and optimize build, test, and deployment processes.
- Implement automated testing strategies to ensure the high quality and stability of software releases.
- Security and Compliance:
- Integrate security practices and controls throughout the software development lifecycle (Shift-Left security).
- Automate vulnerability scanning, code analysis, and other security measures within our CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain and enhance security controls and validate compliance, ensuring the security and integrity of our systems.
- Monitoring and Incident Management:
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and respond to performance and security issues.
- Act as a key responder to incidents, troubleshoot system failures, and perform thorough root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Continuously improve system observability, reliability, and resilience through effective monitoring and incident response strategies.
- Collaboration:
- Actively participate in cross-functional team efforts, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing with development and operations teams.
- Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for processes, configurations, and best practices, ensuring smooth onboarding and knowledge transfer.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in DevOps, infrastructure automation, or related roles.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid knowledge of security principles and best practices.
- Experience with monitoring and logging systems like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Experience with infrastructure security tools and practices, including intrusion detection and prevention systems, identity and access management, and secure network architecture.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulations such as SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.

About The Job
As AWS Cloud Engineer within our Cloud Engineering team, you'll design and build the cloud foundation that powers Sanofi's most critical solutions. Our Cloud Engineering team is made up of passionate cloud experts who own the AWS Landing Zone and its foundational services. We work hand-in-hand with infrastructure and application teams, supporting cloud migration journeys and helping build cloud-native solutions. It's a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your ideas shape how a global biopharma company harnesses the power of the cloud.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and build cloud foundations — Own the AWS Landing Zone and core cloud services, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and ready to support business-critical workloads (400 AWS accounts).
- Develop reusable infrastructure components — Write and maintain modular infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, building a library of standardised, reusable modules that accelerate delivery across teams.
- Automate deployments end-to-end — Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate cloud provisioning, configuration management, and service deployment reliably and at scale.
- Embed security and compliance by design — Implement cloud security controls, access policies, and network safeguards to ensure every deployment meets Sanofi's standards and regulatory requirements.
- Keep the platform visible and reliable — Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions so teams have full visibility into platform health and can respond quickly when issues arise.
- Contribute to cloud migration initiatives — Guide the migration of on-premises workloads to AWS, minimizing disruption while applying cloud architecture best practices throughout.
- Enable and uplift cloud capability — Act as a trusted technical advisor for engineering teams, sharing knowledge on cloud patterns, best practices, and tools to raise the bar across the organisation.
- Cloud expertise — Deep, hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture, with a strong ability to design scalable and resilient solutions.
- Infrastructure as code mindset — Strong proficiency in Terraform (including module development), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred), and automation tooling such as Ansible.
- Security and networking know-how — Solid understanding of AWS security principles, IAM, networking concepts, and compliance controls.
