The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), located in Grenoble, France, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Fellow position on the High Pressure Crystallography beamline ID15B.

The facility’s world-class particle accelerator provides intense X-ray beams for experiments across various scientific disciplines.

The Successful Candidate Will

– Participate in ongoing in-house research programs

– Operate and maintain the ID15B beamline

– Provide support to external users as a local contact

– Develop an independent research program utilizing the unique capabilities of the ID15B beamline

The ID15B beamline specializes in determining the structural properties of solids under high pressure using diamond anvil cells. State-of-the-art facilities, including a sample preparation laboratory, Raman system, and equipment for temperature and laser annealing experiments, are available. Research topics include crystal structures of polyhydrides and molecular systems, and phase diagrams of quantum systems, using advanced diffraction techniques.

Requirements

– PhD in chemistry, physics, geophysics, or a closely related field, obtained within the past 3 years

– Experience with X-ray diffraction and high-pressure diamond anvil cell experiments

– Desirable experience in crystallography and synchrotron radiation

– Strong ability to interact with multidisciplinary staff and facility users

– Proficiency in English
