ABOUT THE JOB

MISSION

Want to help shape the bank of tomorrow today?

How can the Bank leverage data to assess credit risk on its portfolio of existing and new clients ? Risk assessment encompasses various elements: how likely is it that a client will not be able to comply with the contractual requirements of his loan ? What will be the client´s outstanding balance in this situation ? What loss is the bank expected to suffer if a client is no longer able to repay a loan ? As a member of the RISK ERA Models team, you will join a team of experts whose goal is to answer these questions through the development of statistical or expert models.

By analyzing historical data, working together with the business lines, IT department, the modelling experts at BNP Paribas group and taking into account the remarks of supervisor representatives, the team creates tools that help the bank calculate the capital requirements for its credit exposure, the risk component of the credit price or that contribute to the approval process of a new credit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your personal tasks will be:
- Designing and developing models for credit risk on the scope mainly of companies
- Finding, managing and using the most appropriate data sources for modelling purposes
- Working with expert colleagues and business representatives to examine the results and keep models grounded in reality
- Documenting each step of the development and informing decision makers by presenting them options and results
- Ensuring correct implementation of the tools (together with the IT department)
- Continuously assessing models by means of back-testing
- Answering specific, external requests regarding statistics related to credit risk assessment
- Following-up evolutions in the regulation and in credit risk modelling best-practices

REQUIREMENTS

- Studies

Master degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Economy or Econometrics, Trade or Civil Engineering, Statistics, Computer science or a similar background where analytics and figures prevail

- Experience

The position is open to candidates with experiene in the field of credit risk and regulation as well as candidates with limited experience

- Languages

You express yourself perfectly in English, in particular in the writing form. You ideally speak Dutch or French

You have at least basic programming skills, particularly using some high level / statistical language (having worked with SAS or Python is a plus). It is considered an asset if you have some experience with Big Data technologies, ratings & scorings use across the bank or credit products

¿Qué necesitas saber?

• Grado universitario en análisis de negocios, economía, ingeniería, informática empresarial o similar.
• Experiencia previa (prácticas) en las áreas de consultoría estratégica, consultoría operativa o industria y/o data analytics.
• Gran capacidad analítica y extraordinario interés por el análisis de datos complejos (por ejemplo, análisis espacial y predictivo, Six-Sigma), visualización de datos y temas financieros u operativos, que haya demostrado mediante una primera experiencia práctica.
• Entusiasmo y experiencia inicial con herramientas como Alteryx, Tableau o Power Bl, así como con lenguajes de programación como Python y R.
• Sólidas habilidades comunicativas en español e inglés. Se valorarán conocimientos de idiomas adicionales.

This team will play a crucial role in enabling the ongoing transformation of our agencies and functions.

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our Advanced Analytics team, with a strong focus in the application of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing Machine Learning models as well as Generative AI solutions. You will work closely with corporate stakeholders as well as with Data Engineers and Data Analysts to ensure our AI applications are robust, scalable, and impactful. The Advanced Analytics team seats under the Head office Data team based in London, which oversights corporate business data. This position will be based in our Madrid office, but you will collaborate with our global team on a daily basis.

What you'll be doing:

• Developing GenAI & Machine Learning solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Testing new state-of-the-art models for multiple use cases (summarisation, classification, chatbots…). Research new methods and techniques in AI/ML to improve processes and methodologies.
• Evaluating, fine-tuning, and optimizing existing LLM solutions and improve the output quality with more efficient methods.
• Assessing models’ performance in production and report on development status, identify risk areas, and support the wider EDG team in identifying cost-efficient solutions leveraging GenAI models.
• Performing statistical analysis on existing and new datasets to help SME stakeholders identify areas for improvement.
• Presenting technical solutions and findings to non-technical stakeholders successfully.
  
  

What you'll need:

• Experience building GenAI solutions with LLMs and familiarity with both open source and Proprietary LLMs.
• Advanced LLMs knowledge including prompt engineering, model optimization, and building knowledge databases.
• Experience with common Machine Learning frameworks and methods and developing business-oriented data solutions (e.g., data mining, process optimisation, predictive modelling).
• NLP models and techniques.
• Experience working on the data lifecycle of multidisciplinary projects: from dataset creation and EDA to building production-ready pipelines for AI/ML projects.
• Previous experience with Databricks for developing and managing machine learning workflows.
