Offer Description The PhD student will perform research in developing a new device, the Photovoltaic & Radiative Collector and Emitter (PV-RCE), to perform its energetic study, as well as to explore a wide range of possible applications. The PV-RCE is capable of producing either renewable heat, renewable cold or renewable electricity during daytime (using either Solar Collection, Daytime Radiative Cooling, or Photovoltaics), and to produce renewable cold during night-time (using Night-time Radiative Cooling), thus being able to adapt its heat, cold, and electricity production vectors to different demand profiles from buildings and industries. The PV-RCE allows a reduction in the non-renewable primary energy consumption and in the installed power of conventional back-up systems. The objective will be to prove the viability of the equipment and determine its potential to produce cold, heat, and electricity to be implemented in both buildings and industry. The behaviour of the new equipment will be experimentally tested and characterised, and validated numerical models will be developed to simulate the equipment. By means of these models, the effect of different improvements and optimisations in both the equipment and the whole system will be analysed. The capacity of the system to adapt to the cold, heat, and electricity requirements for different applications will be determined. Finally, the technical, economic, and life cycle viability of the system will be studied. Where to apply E-mail ****** Requirements Research Field Engineering Education Level Master Degree or equivalent Skills/Qualifications Master\'s degree in Engineering. Good academic CV. Highly motivated candidates with initiative and team-working abilities. Languages ENGLISH Level Excellent Additional Information The position as a PhD fellow is available for 4 years. Additional funding for PhD program fees and international research stays. Complementary skills to be acquired during the PhD: PhD Project Management, Presentation Skills, Writing scientific publications, Intellectual Property, etc. Participation in International meetings (conferences, workshops, training schools). The financial terms of a predoctoral contract funded by the Spanish Ministry involve a minimum annual salary established in the call for applications, which is paid in 12 monthly installments and two extra payments. The contract term is four years (with the possibility of extension for people with disabilities) and may include a postdoctoral orientation period (POP) to further training after obtaining the doctorate. Salary Details Gross Annual Amount: The minimum salary established in the most recent calls for applications is €19,026 in the first year, and €23,772 in the second, third, and fourth years. Salary: Payments are made in 12 monthly installments plus two extra payments, prorated throughout the year. Duration and Postdoctoral Orientation Period (POP) Duration: Predoctoral contracts have a duration of four years. POP: If the doctoral degree is obtained before the end of the predoctoral period, the researcher can access a postdoctoral orientation period (POP) that can last up to one year, expanding the researcher\'s training and knowledge. Additional Considerations Residence Grants: Ministry funding may also include grants for stays at foreign centers or, exceptionally, at Spanish centers that are beneficial for the researcher\'s training.
