What We´re Looking For

As a Senior Data Architect/ Data Platform Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our data infrastructure to ensure seamless experiences for our customers and drive business growth. You will manage the development and governance of our data platform, ensuring it is reliable, scalable, and optimized for advanced analytics.

In this role, you´ll lead a team of data engineers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to design, build, and maintain a high-quality, cloud-native data ecosystem. Your work will be critical in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization, powering everything from internal dashboards to real-time product features.

We´re looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for mentorship and architectural excellence.

Challenges you´ll meet:
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of skilled data engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Data Platform Modernization: Redesign and modernize our existing data platform using the latest tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and scalability.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with data analysis and product development teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data pipelines that contribute to informed decision-making.
- Data Quality & Governance: Establish and enforce data quality frameworks, governance policies, and monitoring tools to ensure high data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and security best practices, minimizing risks related to data access and management.
- Innovation and Testing: Test new approaches by creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and conducting benchmarks to continuously improve our data platform.
- ETL/ELT Excellence: Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ensure high-quality and consistent data, supporting the integrity of our analytics and insights.
- Best Practices and CI/CD Methods: Build robust pipelines for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), streamlining software delivery and enhancing efficiency in collaboration with development teams.

Your professional qualities:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend systems, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or architect role.
- Proven experience designing and building distributed data systems on the cloud.
- Expertise in data modeling, warehousing (dimensional, denormalized, time-series), and data governance.
- Strong experience with streaming architectures (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka) and batch ETL.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines for data systems and infrastructure (preferably GitLab CI).
- Excellent communication skills-able to influence stakeholders and guide technical decisions across departments.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and security standards.
- A mentoring mindset-you´ve supported career growth of other engineers and improved team standards.
- Experience balancing trade-offs between scalability, cost, speed, and maintainability.

Tech stack you´ll work with:
- Cloud: AWS (Redshift, Spectrum, S3, RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, Glue, MWAA)
- Languages: Python, SQL
- Orchestration: Airflow (MWAA)
- Modeling: dbt
- CI/CD: GitLab CI (including GitLab administration)
- Monitoring: Datadog, Grafana, Graylog
- Event validation process: Iglu schema registry
- APIs & Integrations: REST, OAuth, webhook ingestion
- Infra-as-code (optional): Terraform

Nice to have:
- Experience with additional AWS services: EMR, EKS, Athena, EC2.
- Hands-on knowledge of alternative data warehouses like Snowflake or others.
- Strong proficiency in PySpark for large-scale data processing.
- Event Data Collection Tools: custom, Snowplow, Rudderstack, etc.
- Familiarity with customer data platforms (CDPs) and real-time data processing.

What We´re Looking For

We are seeking a pioneering Senior Software Engineer to be the foundational hire for our new IT Platform Team. This is a unique opportunity to explore the problem space from the ground up, make critical technology decisions, and lay the architectural groundwork for the systems that will become the "brain" of our IT operations.

You will be instrumental in shifting IT from a traditional support model to a proactive, software-driven function. You´ll work closely with our frontline IT support staff (who will be part of your integrated team) to deeply understand their challenges and build innovative solutions that automate processes, enhance reliability, and leverage cutting-edge technologies, including AI. This role is for a builder, a problem-solver, and a visionary who is passionate about using software engineering to create transformative efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Explore & Define: Dive deep into existing IT operational workflows, helpdesk processes, and infrastructure to identify inefficiencies and prime opportunities for automation and AI-driven solutions.
- Architect & Design: Play a lead role in designing the architecture for our new IT operational platform, making key technology choices for automation frameworks, integration strategies, data management, and potential AI tooling. Your decisions will set the foundation for the team´s future.
- Build & Implement: Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions to automate IT processes, integrate disparate systems, and build internal tools. This includes everything from sophisticated workflow automation to intelligent bots and foundational AI models.
- Champion Software Engineering Best Practices: Establish and advocate for best practices in version control (Git), CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and secure coding standards within the team from day one.
- Collaborate Deeply: Work hand-in-hand with integrated IT support colleagues, the Systems Administration team, and stakeholders across Welltech to understand needs, gather requirements, and ensure solutions are impactful and user-centric.
- AI Exploration & Implementation: Research, prototype, and implement AI solutions, with a strong interest in agentic AI systems, to create intelligent virtual agents, predictive operational insights, and automated decision-making within IT and potentially for other Welltech departments.
- Own Solutions End-to-End: Take responsibility for the full lifecycle of the solutions you build, from initial concept through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.
- Mentorship & Guidance (Future): As the team grows, provide technical guidance and mentorship to more junior engineers.

Required skills:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of designing, building, and deploying complex software solutions
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript)
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and API development
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and their services (e.g., serverless functions, messaging queues, databases)
- Demonstrable interest and hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and technologies, especially on agentic AI

Will be a Plus:
- Understanding of ITSM concepts (ITIL) and platforms (e.g. Jira Service Management) is a plus.
- Practical experience building applications leveraging open standards like Model Context Protocol (MCP)
