🚀 Engineering Manager – FinTech Platform

About the Role 👋

We’re working with a growing FinTech organisation building a modern, scalable financial platform.

They’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers within a key product domain, helping shape technical direction while ensuring high-quality delivery.

This role combines technical leadership, team development, and delivery ownership, with a strong focus on building reliable, scalable systems that meet real customer needs.

What You’ll Be Doing ⚙️

Technical Leadership

• Own a product domain and define the short- to mid-term technical roadmap
• Partner with senior engineers to ensure consistent architecture and design decisions
• Take ownership of system reliability, availability, and security
• Ensure systems are well-supported with clear SLAs, documentation, and on-call processes

Delivery & Execution

• Lead team delivery, including planning, prioritisation, and sprint execution
• Balance roadmap commitments with unplanned work and operational demands
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, velocity, and sustainable delivery
• Ensure ownership and resolution of incidents and production issues

Collaboration

• Work closely with product counterparts to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes
• Act as the key link between engineering and product
• Communicate progress clearly and escalate risks when needed

People Leadership

• Manage and support a team of engineers across different levels
• Create a stable, high-performing team environment
• Drive performance through regular feedback, coaching, and development plans
• Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of strong talent
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous feedback

Process & Performance

• Ensure effective execution of engineering processes and best practices
• Track and improve key team metrics (e.g. delivery, quality, team health)
• Balance delivery outcomes with team well-being and long-term sustainability
• Manage small budgets where needed (tools, team initiatives)

What They’re Looking For 🧠

• Experience as an Engineering Manager (or similar leadership role)
• Background in FinTech or financial services
• Experience working in product-led, multi-team environments
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices
• Experience with Agile delivery
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
