About The Position
At IDENER.AI, we are seeking a Researcher to contribute to our efforts in high-efficiency solar PV systems and digital modelling. This role focuses on the technical core of photovoltaic technology, requiring a professional capable of taking ownership of everything from cell-level physics to utility-scale deployment of digital twins.
Your Responsibilities Will Focus On
- Develop advanced models for thin films and functional coatings, exploring manufacturing processes such as plasma-based deposition and microstructuring for Perovskite and Tandem cell architectures.
- Architect high-fidelity Digital Twins for utility-scale solar farms, integrating these simulations into real-time control systems to optimise energy yield.
- Implement AI and Machine Learning forecasting models for irradiance and soiling analysis to drive the transition toward prescriptive and preventive maintenance.
- Design experimental protocols to evaluate the performance of PV modules and inverters under accelerated ageing conditions to ensure the reliability of balance-of-system components.
- Engineer scalable cloud-based data pipelines for real-time monitoring of large-scale PV assets to support automated decision-making at the edge.
- Collaborate with our sustainability team by providing technical performance data to support strategic assessments and multidisciplinary design optimization frameworks.
- Execute literature searches and state-of-the-art reviews to propose new project ideas and methodologies that align with current scientific and legislative trends.
- Represent IDENER.AI in international forums, engaging in consortium meetings and presenting research results at international conferences.

- You should hold a University Degree in Engineering—such as Materials Science, Energy, or Electronics—or a background in Physics, with a strong preference for a Master’s or PhD in Photovoltaic technology.
- Professional proficiency in English is a must, as you will represent our research in international forums and collaborate with top-tier global partners.
- We require a deep understanding of PV device physics, including advanced architectures like Perovskites, HJT, or Tandem cells, and their respective manufacturing processes.
- You should be proficient in Python and have experience in system modeling or data science to develop high-fidelity digital twins and predictive maintenance algorithms.
- We are looking for a proactive researcher who stays ahead of the scientific curve and takes the initiative to propose new R&D directions in the solar energy sector.
