- Identificar oportunidades de aplicación de IA en procesos internos y productos, analizando necesidades del negocio y proponiendo soluciones viables.
- Diseñar, desarrollar y documentar casos de uso de IA, desde la recopilación de requerimientos hasta la definición de objetivos, métricas y resultados esperados.
- Evaluar y seleccionar modelos de IA adecuados Además de preparar y gestionar datasets, incluyendo limpieza, etiquetado, validación etc...

Our team and mission
ESA maintains a world-leading Science Programme with missions in helio-physics, planetary science, astrophysics and fundamental physics. Its mission is to 'Empower Europe to lead space science'. The Department for Science Operations and Office for Science Engagement and Oversight host together the scientists and engineers that oversee the space missions, from study to end of operations. It defines and develops the science operation systems for the missions and operates the missions in space, as well as archiving and curating their data during operations and beyond. Our main objective is to maximise the scientific output of ESA's space science missions for the benefit of humankind.
You will join the Data Science Section to support the development of the ESA Datalabs science platform and studies related to its extension towards a hybrid-cloud, jointly with the underlying ESDC archives. The Data Science section is a cross-disciplinary team working with various science missions including Euclid, Planck, Gaia, XMM-Newton and JWST and science operations teams. Aside from experts in astronomy, computer science and systems engineering, the section frequently works with many young professionals as well as universities, researchers and students. Through its diverse setup, the section tackles many tasks ranging from technical infrastructure topics over scientific activities to (international) community building efforts around data science and machine learning.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship
The goal of the traineeship is to support the development of our ESA Datalabs science platform and in particular the study towards a hybrid model (on-premises and cloud), planned to be carried out for ESA Datalabs and the Planck and Euclid Q1 science archives.
The platform, ESA Datalabs, is built on top the archives developed by the ESDC (ESAC Science Data Centre) and IT infrastructure provided by the Programmatic IT team. Its objectives are to increase the science return of ESA science missions through offering data exploitation functionalities, leveraging AI and ML projects and providing collaborative research environment. We are looking to extend the current on-premises setup to be capable of running in a distributed setup, with parts of the system deployed at academic institutions or with European cloud providers. This traineeship is an exciting opportunity to learn and apply a wide range of technical skills and to contribute to help scientists improve our understanding of the universe by making science data accessible to researchers worldwide.
Your tasks will include:
- supporting the study and the proof-of-concept related to extending archives and science platform into a distributed cloud setup;
- support the deployment of the Planck and Euclid Q1 archives into a hybrid cloud context;
- support the deployment of the ESA Datalabs science platform into a hybrid cloud context;
- support the integration of the ESA Datalabs science platform with archives in the context of their deployment towards the hybrid cloud context;

You should have just completed, or be in the final year of your master’ s degree in computer science or a related field.
Additional Requirements
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience of working in international teams can be considered an asset. Your motivation, overall professional perspective and career goals will also be explored during the later stages of the selection process.
You should also:

We are seeking a Data Product Manager to lead the development and evolution of our Energy & Industrial data platform, enabling advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and semantic interoperability across global operations. This role is pivotal in shaping how Energy & Industrial data is ingested, processed, stored mapped to semantic models, and exposed through modern data products.
You will work closely with engineering, architecture, and domain experts to define product vision, prioritize capabilities, and ensure delivery aligns with business outcomes. The ideal candidate combines industrial domain knowledge, cloud-native data architecture experience (Microsoft Azure preferred), and a passion for data-driven innovation.
Key Responsibilities
• Product Roadmap
- Define and own the roadmap for the data platform, with focus on ingestion, processing and storage of data
- Translate business needs into clear product requirements and success metrics
- Contribute to the overall formation of data product startegy
• Capability Development
- Drive implementation of OneLake Medallion architecture, ingestion pipelines, and data product management frameworks.
- Good understanding of RDF stores, domain ontologies, and physical-to-semantic mapping processes.
• Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with business domain experts, architects and engineers to meet real-world use cases.
- Act as the voice of the customer
• Governance & Standards
- Good understanding of data product lifecycle management, ontology stewardship, and compliance with security and privacy standards.
• Exposure & Adoption
- Drive adoption through documentation, onboarding, and enablement programs.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
Required Qualifications
- Industrial Background: Experience in manufacturing, energy, or process industries with understanding of OT/IT integration.
- Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Event Hub, Data Factory, Purview).
- Data Architecture Knowledge: Familiarity with Medallion architecture, data pipelines, and semantic technologies (RDF, SPARQL, SHACL).
- Product Management Skills: Proven ability to define roadmaps, write user stories, and manage backlog in Agile environments.
- Communication & Leadership: Strong ability to influence cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI/ML platforms (Azure Machine Learning, feature stores, MLOps).
- Knowledge of industrial data standards (OPC UA, ISA-95, ISO 50001).
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, ontologies, and semantic data modeling.

Sobre el rol. Qué harás
- Proyectos de Data Science para entidades financieras Tier 1 abarcando desde Machine Learning clásico hasta desarrollo de agentes de Inteligencia Artificial (Agentic AI).
- Diseñar y desplegar agentes de IA orientados a negocio (copilotos, asistentes internos, automatización de back‑office), definiendo objetivos, herramientas, permisos, flujos multi‑agente... desde prototipo hasta producción.
- Construir evaluaciones y LLMOps: tests automáticos, datasets, métricas de calidad/seguridad, observabilidad, monitoreo, guardrails, control de costes/latencia, y despliegues CI/CD en cloud o on‑prem.
- Procesos discovery con clientes de alto nivel: workshops, mapeo de procesos, definición de casos de uso, ROI, riesgos y roadmap; coordinación con squads (data, software, ciber) y gestión ágil para entregar incrementos.
- Soporte técnico en preventa: estimaciones y TCO; diseñar arquitectura de soluciones (APIs, seguridad, escalabilidad); y desarrollar POCs/MVPs con Python/TypeScript, frameworks de agentes y vector DBs.
Habilidades técnicas deseables
- ML / Agentic AI: Imprescindible experiencia demostrable entrenando y desplegando modelos de Machine Learning y/o Agentic AI.
- MLOps: experiencia con automatismos de versionado, entrenamiento, evaluación, despliegue y monitorización de modelos de Machine Learning y optimización.
- Agentic AI: Experiencia demostrable en el dominio de la Agentic AI, utilizando librerías como Langchain y LangGraph. En términos de protocolos de Agentic AI, la experiencia en el uso de MCP, gestión de memoria y comunicación entre agentes es un plus.
- CI/CD para ML: Experiencia en la implementación de pipelines CI/CD para modelos de aprendizaje automático.
- Data Science: Sólido conocimiento de SQL y Python con experiencia práctica en librerías de ML/GenAI. Algunas de ML son Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch y XGBoost. Se considerará una habilidad excepcional en otros lenguajes de programación.
- Arquitectura de soluciones: Experiencia demostrable diseñando proyectos y soluciones basadas en cloud e IaC en el dominio de la Inteligencia Artificial. Integración de bases de datos vectoriales (Pinecone/Qdrant) y APIs robustas (FastAPI).

As a Staff Product Data Analyst, you’ll leverage data to drive strategic decision-making and optimize product performance. Success in this position means delivering actionable insights that lead to measurable improvements in product KPIs and overall user satisfaction. This role is integral to our product team, ensuring data-driven decisions guide our product strategy and innovation efforts.
You’ll join the Product Insights department, composed of the Product Data Analytics team and Product Research team. In charge of having a 360 customer knowledge view, we combine quantitative and qualitative insights to inform the product roadmap. You will be responsible to support the Growth product line, focused on making the Product self-serve, from trial to conversion, and partner directly with the Director/VP of Product. You will be reporting to the Data Analytics manager of this team.
What You’ll Do
- Identify and establish the core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that the product team will focus on to measure product success and impact. Ensure these KPIs align with overall business objectives and provide a clear framework for evaluating product performance.
- Guide and empower product teams with advanced methodologies and analytical tools to foster a data-driven culture. Provide training and support to ensure teams can independently leverage data insights in their decision-making processes.
- Help shape the experimentation strategy of our fast-paced team by designing A/B tests and testing guidelines, aligning success metrics across cross-functional teams, validating the technical setup, tracking experiment performance, and guiding stakeholders on expected time to insights and interpretation of results.
- Conduct thorough analysis of product performance metrics and user behavior to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Use these insights to drive strategic decisions that enhance product functionality, user experience, and market competitiveness.
