Context And Mission
The Global Health Resilience (GHR) group led by ICREA Research Professor Rachel Lowe at the BSC-CNS is seeking a highly motivated data scientist to co-create robust harmonised datasets, R packages and dashboards for decision-support tools to enhance surveillance, preparedness, and response to global health challenges, including climate-sensitive infectious diseases.
The GHR group conducts cutting-edge methodological research on disentangling the impacts of global environmental change on infectious disease risk and co-developing impact-based forecasting models at sub-seasonal to decadal timescales in collaboration with public health, disaster risk management, and humanitarian agencies. The GHR group works closely with the Earth System Services (ESS) group, whose mission is to research the impact of weather, atmospheric chemistry and climate upon socio-economic sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, water management, forest fires, urban development and health and demonstrate the ongoing value of earth system services to society and the economy.
The selected candidate will conduct data audits and exploratory data reports to summarise characteristics, biases and completeness of both open-source and stakeholder provided data to provide decision-support at multiple spatial scales and different forecasting horizons. They will perform data linkage, involving post-processing, downscaling, integration, harmonization and machine learning techniques, and visualization of multi-source, multi-scale epidemiological, climatic, environmental, demographic, socio-economic, human movement, and health systems datasets. They will develop R packages for data harmonisation and modelling, co-design dashboards to summarise and visualise multi-sourced data and facilitate communication with the team and stakeholders, and prepare and deliver material for stakeholder training and capacity building activities. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Data and Diagnostics team that co-develops the analysis packages. This position presents an opportunity to work alongside a wide range of leading international climate and health scientists delivering cutting-edge climate services for the health sector to inform policymakers in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and worldwide.

Key Duties
- Co-create decision support systems to enhance public health resilience to climate change
- Conduct data audits of existing epidemiological, health system and environmental information
- Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data to be used for analysis
- Perform Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) processes
- Harmonise multi-source, multi-scale datasets (e.g. health surveillance, demographic, climate, hydrological, socio-economic, mobility, etc.)
- Develop automated data pipelines for operational decision support tools
- Conduct exploratory statistical analyses and create exploratory data analysis reports
- Produce dashboards and design innovative ways to visualise data
- Develop training materials for researchers, data managers and stakeholders
- Communicate research results at scientific conferences and in refereed journals
- Contribute to applications for competitive grants and projects
- Support administrative duties of the group, including arranging meetings, taking minutes, writing deliverable and mission reports, maintaining Wiki/webpages, etc.

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.

Role Overview
As a Developer Analyst, you will be responsible for the technical design, programming, testing, and deployment of solutions. Your role includes full integration of developed solutions into the existing system. You will also be in charge of maintaining all technical documentation and test evidence through ALM.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Development: Lead the technical design and programming of assigned projects.
- Testing & Deployment: Conduct rigorous testing and manage the deployment and system integration phases.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for documentation and providing evidence of testing in ALM.

Buscamos un ingeniero de preventa de datos de Google Cloud para incorporarse a nuestro equipo, la posición puede ser 100% remota desde España, aunque tenemos oficinas en Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Zaragoza y Valencia, por lo que también se puede hacer un híbrido.
En este puesto, actuará como experto técnico y asesor de confianza para los clientes potenciales, ayudándoles a comprender cómo las soluciones de datos de Google Cloud pueden transformar su negocio. Combinará un profundo conocimiento técnico con unas habilidades de comunicación excepcionales para impulsar el éxito de la preventa y apoyar a nuestro equipo de ventas en el cierre de acuerdos complejos.
- Realizar evaluaciones técnicas exhaustivas y analizar los requisitos de los clientes para diseñar soluciones de datos de Google Cloud personalizadas
- Realizar presentaciones de preventa convincentes, demostraciones de productos y talleres técnicos para clientes potenciales y partes interesadas
- Desarrollar pruebas de concepto, propuestas técnicas y arquitecturas de soluciones que aborden los retos empresariales específicos de los clientes
- Colaborar estrechamente con los equipos de ventas para identificar oportunidades, calificar clientes potenciales y apoyar todo el ciclo de ventas
- Proporcionar orientación técnica especializada sobre las plataformas de datos de Google Cloud, incluyendo BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL y servicios relacionados
- Resolver problemas técnicos y ofrecer soluciones durante las interacciones de preventa y las fases de prueba de concepto.
- Mantenerse al día de las actualizaciones de los productos de Google Cloud, las tendencias del sector y el panorama competitivo para conservar la experiencia técnica.
- Interactuar con los responsables de la toma de decisiones técnicas y los ejecutivos de alto nivel para comunicar el valor y las capacidades de las soluciones de Google Cloud.
- Contribuir al cierre de acuerdos abordando las inquietudes técnicas y demostrando un claro retorno de la inversión.
Requisitos
- Más de 3 años de experiencia en puestos de preventa, ingeniería de soluciones o consultoría técnica
- Sólidos conocimientos técnicos sobre los servicios de datos y análisis de Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experiencia demostrada en almacenamiento de datos, procesos ETL/ELT y soluciones de inteligencia empresarial
- Dominio de SQL y de los conceptos de modelado de datos
- Excelentes habilidades de presentación y comunicación, con capacidad para explicar conceptos técnicos complejos a un público sin conocimientos técnicos
- Sólidas habilidades analíticas y de resolución de problemas, con un enfoque orientado a los detalles
- Experiencia trabajando en colaboración con equipos multifuncionales, incluyendo ventas, producto y éxito del cliente
- Capacidad para aprender rápidamente nuevas tecnologías y adaptarse a un entorno dinámico
- Inglés alto, tanto escrito como hablado
Requisitos preferentes:
- Certificaciones de Google Cloud, como Professional Data Engineer o Associate Cloud Engineer
- Experiencia en programación con Python, Java o lenguajes similares
- Conocimientos sobre servicios de aprendizaje automático e inteligencia artificial en Google Cloud
- Experiencia con patrones de arquitectura de datos empresariales y mejores prácticas
- Experiencia en puestos técnicos de atención al cliente o gestión de cuentas
