As IT Service Delivery Manager, You Will Be Responsible To Ensure The End-to-end Delivery Of IT For Data Services To PF Subsidiaries & Corporate, By Your Team Under Two Different Operating Models:
- Managed Model: application owners of Data Products, assuming full responsibility for asset lifecycle management. This includes aligning technical execution with business objectives, ensuring risk mitigation, and maintaining security and compliance within the PF Group’s operating framework.
- Extended Team Model: Provide expert Big Data profiles—such as Data Engineers, Data Architects, Data Quality Specialists, Data Quality, and Data Modelers—embedded within customer squads. While these experts operate under the customer’s direct management, our company brings added value by reinforcing delivery with specialized knowledge and best practices from the SE.T IT for DATA broader team.
As the first line in charge of people development, support the team throughout the path in the organization, in terms of performance, motivation and professional growth. On top of that, responsible for providing a high-level client’s service in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities are:
- Overseeing services delivered by the team, being an active contributor in the development of subsidiaries’ initiatives and during the setting up of new services (IT For Data services and/or management of Data products).
- Concerning the “managed model” services:
- Ensure operational excellence (availability/SLAs, incident/problem/change management, capacity and cost control).
- Guaranteeing the proper functioning in everyday use of applications and infrastructures serving the Businesses.
- Ensure the maintenance of mandatory documentation, guarantee governance of the asset, security and compliance standards.
- Assessing customer feedback and using creativity to establish, improve, and refine services.
- Close management of external services providers.
- Guarantee communication with the stakeholders and users.
- Contribute to the management of the P&L of Services in your perimeter.
- Support, develop and empower team members, focusing attention on their individual skillset, aspirations and development needs, to capacitate them to the current role and future challenges.
- Management of staff holidays, absences, back-ups schemes, follow-up recruitment processes, mobility’s and newcomers; evaluate daily work and write annual appraisals; follow up on each group member’s performance and motivation.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement/innovation within the teams.
- Bachelor’s/master’s in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- +5 years in IT delivery roles, with at least 2 years in leadership of teams/services (multi-squad, multi-country).
- Proven track record leading IT data deliveries in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Knowledge in Big Data, Cloud and CI/CD technologies.
- Demonstrated Application Ownership for data-centric products/services (run/operate, SLAs, risk & compliance).
- Strong Agile delivery background (Scrum/SAFe/Kanban).
- Experience with generative AI technologies to drive innovation in data-driven solutions and optimize business processes.

Context And Mission
Within the Barcelona Supercomputing Center the Earth Sciences Department, led by Prof Francisco Doblas-Reyes, aims to deliver novel, advanced, and well-evaluated high-resolution global climate models capable of simulating and predicting climate estimations with unprecedented reliability. The successful candidate will be part of the Performance Team a sub-group in the section of Computational Earth Sciences.
This team, composed of 20 members but steadily growing, performs R&D tasks in the field of Earth system modelling (ESM) performance: its goal is to identify model bottlenecks and research how to remove them. The team has at its disposal cutting-edge performance tools, able to evaluate and represent different performance metrics. Having identified those areas in the code, the experts in the team proceed to modify them without impacting the final results. Possible solutions can go from using more efficient numerical algorithms to modifying the way the model exploits the HPC infrastructure.
Key Duties
- The successful candidate will work on profiling and implementing computational optimizations for Earth Sciences applications running at a very high-resolution configuration using top European HPC platforms.
- The candidate will also be involved in developing the department's "common" tools: these include several applications whose interest is shared among different sub-groups in the Earth Sciences department and whose number of users can range from small groups to several institutions.
- This position involves close interaction with the Climate Variability and Change (CVC) group and external collaborators/software vendors.
- Education
- Having a Bachelor in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline
- Having a Master’s degree will be valued
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Excellent computing skills in high-level computer languages (especially Fortran or C/C++) and experience with Unix/Linux environments and scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc)
- Programming skills to manage big and collaborative projects and experience with git and/or SVN
- Knowledge of HPC performance and profiling tools such as Intel VTune
- Experience or knowledge in compiling, running and optimizing scientific codes on large HPC systems
- Experience or knowledge in HPC architecture and parallel programming paradigms such as MPI and OpenMP
- Experience or knowledge in the usage and support of Unix- or Linux-based HPC systems

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.

- Definir, revisar y optimizar la filosofía de automatización y control de procesos, asegurando la operación estable, segura y eficiente de los sistemas bajo criterios de desempeño y confiabilidad.
- Analizar y optimizar los sistemas de control avanzado, proponiendo ajustes en la lógica, los lazos PID y las estrategias de control para maximizar la estabilidad del proceso y la calidad del producto.
- Supervisar la calidad y coherencia de los datos de instrumentación y sistemas de control, garantizando la integridad de la información utilizada para decisiones operativas, modelamiento y análisis de desempeño
- Promover la mejora continua en automatización y control, identificando oportunidades de optimización, reducción de variabilidad y digitalización de procesos, coordinando su ejecución con las áreas de operación, mantenimiento e instrumentación.
- Diseñar y validar estrategias de control y secuencias automáticas, asegurando su correcta implementación por parte del personal técnico de automatización, conforme a los PI&D y estándares internos.
- Monitorear indicadores de desempeño del sistema de control, evaluando la efectividad de las mejoras implementadas y proponiendo acciones correctivas o evolutivas cuando corresponda.

Context And Mission
The mission of the Earth Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, led by Prof. Francisco Doblas-Reyes, is to carry out research and develop methods for environmental forecasting, with a particular focus on the atmosphere-ocean-biosphere system. This includes the management and transfer of technology to support key societal challenges through the use of models and data applications in High Performance Computing (HPC) and AI infrastructures. It also includes the dissemination of real-time air quality and climate information based on its research expertise in collaboration with the Spanish authorities and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
The successful candidate will join the Computational Earth Sciences group to co-lead the activities of the HPC for Earth Sciences team, which is responsible for the good scalability and efficient hardware resource usage of Earth models and applications by identifying computational bottlenecks and optimizing them using cutting-edge performance tools and HPC techniques, including from more efficient numerical algorithms to architecture-aware approaches.
The HPC for Earth Sciences team plays a crucial role in the research to operations cycle, including initiatives such as Destination Earth and the European Digital Twin of the Ocean. It has strong links with the other teams in the Computational Earth Sciences group and with the research groups in the department.
Key Duties
- Contribute to the coordination and supervision of a team of 16 research engineers and scientists.
- Lead the planning, execution and completion of ongoing and new engineering and research projects within the team, assigning tasks and prioritising them.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for the sustainability of the team and the department's models and tools.
- Contribute to the development strategy of the department's tools, thereby increasing the applicability and international visibility - and hence impact - of the research arising from current and future projects.
- Contribute to the research activities of the team by identifying potential new lines of research and assisting in the publication and dissemination of the team's research activities.
- The selected candidate will lead the HPC for Earth Sciences team, manage tasks and deliverables, and supervise team members. The candidate will report to the Head of the Computational Earth Sciences Group.
- Education
- Possess a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, physical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a closely related field. A PhD in a related field is not essential but will be appreciated.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience in Earth science research or applied work, with a focus on HPC performance analysis and development.
- Experience in leading or managing a team, including assigning tasks, setting goals, providing feedback and facilitating collaboration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Proven ability to manage large and collaborative projects, including supervision of PhD or Masters students.
- Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as FORTRAN and C/C++, with experience in UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages such as bash and Python.
- Proven experience in scientific research, particularly in areas related to climate or ocean modelling.
- Familiarity with large HPC systems, including parallel programming paradigms such as MPI, OpenMP, etc.
- Familiarity in compiling and deploying large codes from source on different HPC systems.
- Familiarity with profiling tools such as Intel VTune.

- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.

En Mercadona Tech, la spin-off innovadora de Mercadona dedicada a transformar la experiencia de compra online de productos de supermercado, estamos en búsqueda de un/a Data Scientist para unirse a nuestro Tech Hub en Valencia.
Nuestro equipo está compuesto actualmente por 5 personas con un perfil generalista de datos. Buscamos a una persona apasionado/a por la tecnología que nos ayude a seguir impulsando el crecimiento y desarrollo de nuestro e-commerce, creando soluciones innovadoras para nuestros usuarios.
El equipo se encarga de dos flujos de trabajo diferenciados:
- Trabajo de plataforma de datos: Desarrollar las herramientas existentes a la vez que proponemos nuevas herramientas para que los datos se gestionen correctamente en todo Mercadona Online. La joya de la corona, ¡ETL pipelines! Tenemos EL personalizados y gestionamos la T con DBT.
- Trabajo orientado a problemas de negocio: Derivar soluciones basadas en datos para automatizar y eficientar procesos de negocio mediante el uso de algoritmos de optimización y aprendizaje por refuerzo. En esta línea de trabajo podemos citar: sistemas de recomendación, algoritmo de enrutado.
Sobre ti
En general, buscamos a alguien con una combinación única de experiencia técnica, creatividad y entusiasmo por el mundo de los datos.
Como requisitos, valoraremos los siguientes:
- Dominio de SQL y Python.
- Experiencia trabajando en la nube. Aquí trabajamos con Google Cloud Platform.
- Estar interesado en la construcción de abstracciones de datos, plataformas, herramientas y productos de cara interna.
- Mentalidad colaborativa. Las sesiones de pairing y mob programming dentro y fuera del equipo (PM e ingenieros de software) son una práctica habitual.
- Experiencia con algoritmos y herramientas de aprendizaje automático.
Tecnología en nuestro equipo de Data
Para nuestra plataforma de datos, hemos elegido un stack de datos que ha simplificado mucho (por ahora) nuestra infraestructura: el Modern Data Stack. En nuestro caso, los pipelines de extracción y carga están hechos con CDC, la transformación de datos se implementa con DBT, y nuestra base de datos analítica es BigQuery. Nuestros cuadros de mando están definidos en Metabase y Grafana. Nuestras cargas de trabajo están en contenedores con Docker y Kubernetes para fomentar la escalabilidad y la reproducibilidad.
Para la parte de problemas orientados al negocio, utilizamos OR-Tools y CP-SAT para la resolución de problemas de optimización combinatoria. Para la parte de aprendizaje por refuerzo usamos Scikit-learn y XGBoost.

Adoptamos principios y prácticas de desarrollo Lean y Extreme Programming, como Pair Programming, TDD o Small Safe Steps, entre otras, para mantener las soluciones simples y evitar la sobreingeniería.
