JOB DESCRIPTION

Today we´re looking for an experienced Android Tech Lead who will lead our Android Chapter at Veepee.

As the Android Tech Lead, you will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of the entire Android platform across all product teams. You will lead and mentor Android developers distributed across various squads (such as Navigation, Orderpipe, Sales, and more), ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across all Android initiatives.

This is a strategic role that combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, where you´ll shape the future of our Android applications while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the Android community.

TASKS
- Lead the Android Chapter, providing technical guidance and mentorship to Android developers across multiple squads;
- Define and drive the Android technical strategy, architecture patterns, and technology roadmap;
- Establish and maintain Android coding standards, best practices, and development guidelines across the organization;
- Champion architectural decisions and ensure consistency across all Android projects;
- Facilitate knowledge sharing through tech talks, workshops, and documentation;
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and other Tech Leads to align technical decisions with business objectives;
- Conduct and coordinate code reviews, promoting high-quality code across all teams;
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and improvements to the Android ecosystem;
- Monitor and improve application performance, stability, and user experience across all Android products;
- Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes at the platform level;
- Ensure CI/CD processes are optimized and followed across all Android projects;
- Foster innovation and participate in prototyping new features and solutions;
- Support the recruitment process by evaluating technical candidates and defining hiring standards;
- Act as the primary point of contact for Android-related technical matters.

MUST HAVE skills
- At least 7+ years of experience in building Android applications with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or chapter lead role;
- Deep expertise in Kotlin and solid understanding of Java;
- Proven experience architecting and scaling Android applications in complex environments;
- Strong experience with modern Android architecture components;
- Advanced knowledge of dependency injection frameworks;
- Expert knowledge of Android Studio, Android SDK, and the Android ecosystem;
- Proven ability to implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines;
- Experience with reactive programming;
- Strong skills in unit and UI testing, with ability to define organization-wide testing strategies;
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and inspire developers at various levels;
- Excellent leadership and people management skills in a cross-functional environment;
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Ability to influence and drive technical decisions across multiple teams;
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).

- Previous experience working in Agile/Scrum environments as a Chapter Lead or similar role;

About the role

At Casfid (a Fever company), we build the technology that powers on-site experiences at some of the largest live events worldwide. Casfid is the RFID, access control and cashless payments technology provider of Fever Group, enabling millions of attendees to enjoy seamless, real-time event experiences.

Our Android applications are a critical part of Fever´s operational ecosystem, powering cashless payments, access control, ticketing, recharges and other on-site workflows. These applications run on smartphones, kiosks/totems and custom hardware devices designed in-house, and are used in large-scale, high-demand environments across multiple countries.

We are looking for an Android Developer to join our team and help us evolve our Android platform. You will work mainly with Kotlin, contribute to the progressive migration from Java, and help build scalable and reliable solutions used by millions of users in real time.

Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain native Android applications, primarily using Kotlin, following Android best practices and Google design guidelines.
- Maintain and evolve existing Android applications built in Java, contributing to their progressive migration to Kotlin.
- Manage asynchronous workflows using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, while maintaining existing implementations based on RxJava.
- Apply SOLID principles to ensure clean, maintainable and scalable code.
- Collaborate with the team to implement improvements using Jetpack libraries (Compose is a plus).
- Use tools such as Gradle and Fastlane to automate build, testing and deployment processes.
- Build software used at large-scale live events across 10+ countries, running on mobile devices, kiosks/totems and custom hardware for access control and cashless operations.
- Work closely with product, hardware and operations teams to deliver robust solutions in high-throughput, real-time environments.

About you
- 5+ years of experience as a native Android developer.
- Strong experience developing Android applications using Kotlin.
- Proven ability to read, understand and maintain Java code in a mixed Java/Kotlin codebase.
- Strong knowledge of the Android ecosystem: Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack (Compose is a plus), Coroutines and/or RxJava, and dependency injection with Dagger or Hilt.
- Experience building Android applications with offline/online support, background tasks, or multi-process architectures.
- Good English level to read technical documentation, research solutions and communicate in writing.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to one of our existing or upcoming Products. This role involves setting and executing technical strategy, team management, and working closely with your senior product managers counterparts, to ensure high-velocity delivery of new products.

As a key member of the engineering leadership team, you will shape the company’s technical strategy and contribute to Proton’s mission of creating a privacy-centric internet. Each product will have its unique challenges and areas of focus, nevertheless we require all Engineering Directors for our Products to have a demonstrated track record of building and scaling customer facing applications, in either a B2C or B2B context, for millions of users, across multiple platforms (mobile, desktop, backend systems and platforms).
