Description
The PhD candidate will be involved in a project that seeks to develop a platform system to generate biodegradable and biocompatible synthetic polymers with customizable mechanical properties and degradation rates tailored to specific tissues and conditions. Some of the specific tasks that will be required are:
- Automating processes for the generation and evaluation of biocompatible synthetic polymers for specific applications in tissue engineering.
- Generating data on the mechanical properties, degradation, and biocompatibility of synthesized materials to correlate results through mathematical models and simulations to predict behaviors in biological applications.
- Validating the automation and data generation platform by conducting biological experiments with different cell groups involved, depending on the application.
Requirements
- Candidates should have a background in biomedical engineering, materials science, physics, biology, chemistry, medical science, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Experience in the biological evaluation of materials (in vitro).
- Desirable experience in robotics, machine learning, and programming.
- Availability to start in March 2025.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written and oral).
