The student would join our active group at the Complutense University of Madrid (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).
The Metal-THINGS survey is obtaining IFU spectroscopy for a unique sample of 34 nearby galaxies.
These galaxies have been extensively observed across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio to UV, including data from HST, JWST, VLA, LOFAR, and Dustpedia.
With more than 130 nights of observations already completed using the IFU instrument VIRUS-P at McDonald Observatory (Texas), Metal-THINGS provides thousands of spectra at spatial scales of ****** pc.
Responsibilities
Analyze star formation rates (SFRs) across different galaxy environments.
Investigate the multiwavelength properties of Metal-THINGS galaxies.
Explore the interplay between stellar populations, gas, dust, and feedback in shaping galaxy evolution.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Physics or a related field, and a Master's degree, preferably in Astrophysics or a related area.
Good level of English (spoken and written).
Programming Experience (Python Or R Preferred).
Previous experience with spectroscopy or galaxy surveys is an advantage, but not required.
