Job Description
Wood is currently recruiting for an Intern for Process Design department in our Madrid office.
Wood is looking for students interested in accessing the professional world through external academic internships and offers the possibility to put into practice and expand the knowledge acquired during their academic career.
Students will get the opportunity to work in the H2, Bio-fuels and O&G projects as we look to develop your background in conceptual engineering studies, Basic engineering pre-FEED, FEED, EPC and PMC projects.
The role is offered to fit in with study timetables and course obligations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out process engineering design activities, following client and Wood standards and procedures to meet the schedule and budget, under the supervision of the project line manager
- Develop, review, and take the responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, preparation of process datasheets and engineering drawings to specify the process engineering requirements of our projects
- Ensure the delivery of project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision-making skills
- Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work
- To produce and review specifications, data sheets, schedules, study reports, and design calculations; ensuring that they conform to engineering quality, competence, and project management systems.
- Software: ASPEN HYSYS, PRO II, HTRI, KG-Tower, SULCOL, BlueBeam.
- Comply with the requirements and also its continuous improvement in all our Company activities, to guarantee a position of global performance improvement.
- Final year of degree or master's degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
- Availability in the morning (daily dedication depending on the academic situation)
- Spanish language at native level
- Excellent command of English C1
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Process simulators: ASPEN HYSYS, PRO II
- Academic situation that allows signing an agreement with a university or training center
- Availability in the morning (daily dedication depending on the academic situation)
- Valid Spanish Work Permit

Role Purpose
The role sits within the Power, Utility & Tech sales team. You will drive subscription renewals, strategic cross-sell opportunities, and develop new enterprise-level customer sales across the utility and technology sectors; measured by substantial sales results and account penetration. You will have responsibility for developing and maintaining senior-level relationships within our European Power, Utility & Tech client base, increasing strategic penetration across multiple business units and managing complex, multi-stakeholder relationships across different product portfolios while helping more enterprise customers choose Wood Mackenzie as their trusted advisor.
We are looking for a proven senior sales professional who will build on our existing strategic relationships, identifying opportunities to solve complex client challenges with comprehensive Wood Mackenzie solutions. You will excel in sophisticated sales processes – from strategic prospecting to closing complex deals – thriving on the challenges of winning significant new business and establishing C-suite relationships within your territory.
Main Responsibilities
- Delivering on-time subscription renewals for strategic accounts – ensuring quarterly and annual targets are met
- Strategic account growth – driving significant upsell and cross-sell opportunities within enterprise utility and tech clients Territory expansion – driving more companies to choose Woodmac for their Energy & Natural Resources intelligence needs
- Advanced sales acumen demonstrated via complex pipeline management and sophisticated sales qualification using MEDDPICCC methodology
- Exemplary collaborative approach to strategic Account and sales opportunity management
- Mentor and support junior Account Managers within the team
- Contribute to account planning and review processes for key strategic accounts
- Represent Wood Mackenzie at industry events and conferences
- Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to internal teams
The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of the power, utility, and technology sectors and the strategic use of data and analytics for business transformation, strategic planning, and capital allocation decisions. They will have significant experience selling to senior executives in these communities and ideally already have established relationships with target firms and a sophisticated understanding of how they consume Research and Analytics. The candidate will have a proven ability to develop C-suite relationships and be comfortable with challenging, yet achievable, enterprise-level sales targets.
Professional Skills
- Strong experience in a Senior Sales/Account Manager or Territory Manager role, preferably in utilities or technology sectors
- Have a proven commercial track record in increasing substantial revenue from existing and new enterprise clients, ideally in a subscription-based business model
- Be a self-motivated and energetic individual, a strategic value-based negotiator and results-oriented professional
- Demonstrate excellent judgment in resource utilisation and optimisation across complex accounts
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in personal development & growth and be receptive to advanced coaching
- Have deep intellectual curiosity about how data and analysis solve critical business issues in the utility and tech space
- Show exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to effectively manage complex, multi-threaded sales cycles
