Medical and Molecular Imaging Research Group / Radiology Department

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific, educational, social and economic development within its area of competence.

The GRIMM (Medical and Molecular Imaging Research Group) is the VHIR research group expert in medical imaging in the areas of Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology) and Nuclear Medicine.

This position is linked to a project. The selected person will work under the leadership of Radiology Department, under the project CPP2023-010524 from the Endocrinology Department.

Education and qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

• Basic knowledge of imaging modalities (CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound) and related IT systems (PACS, RIS)
• Knowledge of radiological data handling (DICOM) and medical database usage.
• Ability to critical-analytical thinking, teamwork.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning (classification, regression, clustering)
• Basic knowledge of deep learning (CNNs, transformers) if developing AI models
• Programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, Java, MATLAB, or similar)
• Understanding of DICOM format, metadata, and PACS systems
  
  

Desired:

• Ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary team.
• Proven experience working with radiology or medical imaging equipment in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a clinical environment.
• Effective communication skills to support and train clinical users.
  
  

Main responsibilities and duties:

• Manage DICOM studies with selected software (anonymization and sending)
• Analyze data from different datasets
• Collaborate with radiologists and radiology research staff
  
  

Labour conditions:

• Full-time position: 40h/week.
• Starting date: September 2025.
• Gross annual salary: 30.000 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
• Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
