The Translational Chemical Biology Group at CNIO is seeking a Pre-octoral Research Assistant to participate in research projects focused on applying organic chemistry to biological systems for therapeutic purposes in cancer. The selected candidate will work on the development of small molecules, mini-proteins, and protein conjugates, as well as on the expression, purification, and functional validation of biomolecules aimed at new therapeutic and immunodiagnostic strategies. The position offers multidisciplinary training in an international environment at the interface of chemistry, chemical biology, and translational oncology.

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biomedicine, or other science-related fields from a recognized university. Training in Chemistry will be particularly valued.
• Experience in chemistry and/or chemical biology, preferably related to peptide or protein synthesis.
• Experience in synthetic chemistry.
• Proven experience performing drug evaluation assays and enzymatic assays.
• Research experience in chemistry, chemical biology, or related fields will be valued.
• Experience in cell biology and cell culture techniques will be valued, although not essential.
• Participation in scientific publications will be valued.
• Technical skills:
• Chemical synthesis applied to small molecules, peptides, and mini-proteins.
• Bioconjugation and chemical modification of biomolecules.
• Protein expression and purification.
• Performance of enzymatic assays.
• Basic operation of HPLC, mass spectrometry, and chemical characterization techniques.
• Cell culture and basic work in a cell biology laboratory (desirable).
• High level of English (C1 or equivalent) required.
