As one of the world’s fastest-growing enterprise SaaS companies, we are changemakers pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. We invest heavily in advanced AI capabilities—specifically our Process Intelligence Graph—to turn data insights into immediate business action. We believe there is a massive opportunity to unlock global productivity and sustainability by placing intelligence at the core of every business process. Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.
About The Team
The Global ERP Systems team enables Celonis' Finance organization through scalable, reliable, and innovative enterprise applications. We partner closely with the Finance organization to continuously improve financial processes, automate manual work, and ensure the integrity of financial data across our systems landscape.
Our team organizes our project work on a Scrum framework to focus on continuous delivery, continuous improvement, and agility. As part of our agile team, you'll contribute to the evolution of our Finance Systems ecosystem while working alongside experienced functional and technical specialists in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Finance Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Workday Financials to help design, build, and continuously improve our enterprise Finance Systems landscape.
Reporting to the Head of Finance Systems, you'll serve as a senior technical partner to Accounting and Finance stakeholders, translating complex business requirements into scalable Workday solutions. You'll independently lead the technical delivery of strategic initiatives, drive system improvements, and ensure our financial applications continue to support a fast-growing global business.
You'll have significant ownership over end-to-end solution delivery—from discovery and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-production support—while collaborating closely with Finance Systems leadership to align on technical direction, contribute to platform evolution, and ensure solutions support the long-term scalability of our ERP ecosystem.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the technical expert in the room—partnering with stakeholders to solve complex Finance Systems challenges while contributing to the evolution of the platform under the guidance of Finance Systems leadership.
What You'll Do
Solution Design & Delivery
- Lead the functional and technical design of complex Workday Financials enhancements across multiple business domains.
- Translate accounting and finance requirements into scalable, maintainable system solutions.
- Evaluate solution options, identify trade-offs, and recommend implementation approaches aligned with platform standards.
- Independently lead technical discovery sessions for medium to large initiatives.
- Own end-to-end technical delivery for assigned initiatives, from discovery and solution design through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other Finance Systems Engineers during complex solution design and discovery sessions, sharing best practices and helping ensure scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Configure and optimize Workday Financials while ensuring consistency, scalability, and data integrity.
- Design solutions that accurately translate operational activity into financial transactions, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Drive continuous improvements through configuration, automation, and process simplification.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and solution designs.
- Design and implement lightweight integrations and workflow automations using Make.com (a Celonis company) and other integration platforms.
- Partner with integration engineers and external system owners to ensure reliable end-to-end financial data flows.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and identify opportunities to improve resilience, scalability, and maintainability.
- Serve as a trusted technical partner to Corporate Accounting during projects, month-end close improvements, and production support.
- Investigate complex functional issues and perform root cause analysis across Workday and connected systems.
- Support Finance teams in evaluating, testing, and adopting new functionality delivered through Workday biannual releases.
- Evaluate new Workday capabilities and emerging technologies that could improve Finance operations.
- Contribute technical recommendations for platform enhancements and process optimization.
- Participate in Workday biannual release planning, impact assessments, testing, and implementation.
- Extensive experience supporting Workday Financials in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong functional knowledge across multiple Workday Financials modules, including General Ledger, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Expenses, Banking, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and/or Revenue Management.
- Expert-level proficiency in configuring Workday business processes, security frameworks, custom reporting, and complex calculated fields.
- Proven experience leveraging EIBs for efficient data management.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, journal entries, and financial data flows.
- Strong experience leading end-to-end solution delivery, from discovery and solution design through testing, deployment, and post-production support.
- Strong experience designing system solutions that balance business requirements with technical best practices.
- Experience working with Workday integrations, EIBs, middleware platforms, or similar integration technologies.
- Experience working within Agile software delivery teams.
- Full professional proficiency in English is required.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams using Scrum methodologies.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to engineers during complex solution design and implementation.
- Experience supporting global Finance organizations.
- Exposure to AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Google Gemini, GenAI assistants) within enterprise environments.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex business problems through technology and thrives in a collaborative environment. They are comfortable working independently, partnering with Finance stakeholders, and owning technical delivery from discovery through implementation while collaborating closely with Finance Systems leadership on overall platform direction.
Success in this role means delivering scalable, maintainable solutions, continuously improving our Finance Systems landscape, serving as a trusted technical advisor for complex initiatives, and helping elevate engineering best practices across the team.
What Makes You Successful

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and accounting audiences.
- Comfortable working autonomously while knowing when to seek alignment on broader architectural or strategic decisions.
