La Marquesa Golf in Alicante, Spain, was founded in 1989 by Justo Quesada as Quesada Golf Club and

renamed in 1994 to La Marquesa Golf & Country Club. It’s an 18-hole, par72 parkland course set in a valley

surrounded by mountains, featuring wide fairways, streams, lakes, bunkers, and palm-lined greens. Highlights

include a replica of TPC Sawgrass’s island green on hole 16 and Spain’s first par6 hole (up to 644 m). Facilities

include a clubhouse with restaurant and bar, pro shop, swimming pool, driving range, putting and chipping areas,

practice bunker, and a golf school offering lessons.


ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Club Manager will be responsible for all golf experiences at La Marquesa. The Club Manager will develop

and execute strategies to grow revenue, maintain high service standards, and deliver exceptional guest and

member experiences. This leadership role requires a dynamic, hands-on manager with the ability to oversee a

large team, manage budgets, and uphold compliance across all departments, while fostering a culture of

excellence and professionalism.


KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Leadership and Strategy:


  • Lead and manage all club operational aspects of La Marquesa, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the

golf course, pro shop, F&B, events, and membership services.


  • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow membership, drive revenue, and maintain the club’s

competitive edge in the market.


  • Align club activities with long-term business goals, regularly reviewing operational performance and making

adjustments as needed.


  • Maintain strong relationships with asset management, ownership and other senior managers on site,

providing regular updates on financial performance, operations, and key initiatives.


Operational Oversight:


  • Ensure high operational efficiency and service standards across all departments.


  • Oversee the golf course maintenance team to ensure the course is in pristine condition, addressing any

operational or aesthetic issues.


  • Lead the Food & Beverage department, ensuring exceptional dining experiences in the restaurant and during

events.


  • Manage golf operations, including tee times, tournaments, and guest services, ensuring smooth flow and

premium service.


  • Ensure seamless coordination between departments, including housekeeping, pro shop, events, and F&B, to

deliver a cohesive guest experience.


Financial Management:


  • Prepare, manage, and oversee the club’s annual operating budget, ensuring financial goals are met and

operational efficiency is maintained.


  • Develop and implement revenue-driving strategies through membership sales, events, golf operations, retail

and F&B services.


  • Monitor financial performance, including profit and loss statements, cost control, and revenue generation.


  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality or member experience.


Members & Guest Relations:


  • Cultivate a welcoming and vibrant environment for both members and guests, addressing concerns promptly

and ensuring satisfaction.


  • Manage and attend key meeting with any committees, members and societies to develop relationships and

ensure golfers that the businesses decision making is aligned with its key objectives.


  • Establish and nurture relationships with current and potential members, fostering a sense of community and

loyalty.


  • Organise regular events, tournaments, and activities to enhance the member experience and encourage

repeat visits.


Staff Management & Development:


  • Recruit, train, and manage a large team of department heads and staff, ensuring a high level of performance

across all areas.

  • Promote a positive work culture, encourage teamwork, and provide leadership to managers and staff at all

levels.

  • Implement staff training and development programs to maintain high service standards and operational

consistency.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching to ensure the ongoing growth of the

team.


Compliance & Safety:


  • Ensure the club adheres to all local laws and regulations, including food hygiene, fire safety, and labour laws.


  • Maintain up-to-date certifications and licenses for all relevant business areas, including retail alcohol and

tobacco sales, food safety, and fire prevention.


  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of guests, staff, and assets across the facility.


Event & Tournaments Management:


  • Oversee the planning and execution of high-profile golf tournaments, corporate events, weddings, and other

MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) activities.


  • Oversee the events team to ensure successful coordination between departments and a flawless guest

experience.


  • Promote the club as a thriving destination for golf and corporate events, driving event bookings and revenue

growth.


  • Developing relationships with societies and local partners to develop revenue streams whilst ensuring

operational efficiencies.


Marketing & Brand Management:


  • Manage the marketing team/marketing agency to create promotional strategies that enhance the club’s

visibility and attract new members and guests.


  • Ensure that all marketing materials, online presence, and guest interactions reflect the club’s premium brand.


  • Promote La Marquesa as a destination of choice for local and international golf enthusiasts.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS


• Proven experience in management or director-level roles within golf clubs, hospitality or complex leisure assets.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage day-to-day operations.

• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and revenue generation.

• Commercial mindset with a clear focus on results and guest experience excellence.

• Ability to manage relationships with ownership, members, societies and external partners.

• Solid operational understanding of golf operations and F&B as key revenue drivers.

• Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to manage conflict and execute strategy.

• Fluent English required. High or native level of Spanish.
