The Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Systems at the Penn State College of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join the Yongsoo Kim Lab in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will contribute to NIH-funded projects focused on mapping cellular architecture in mammalian brains, with an emphasis on brain-wide mapping of cell types, anatomical and functional studies of the oxytocin system, and the creation of 3D brain atlases using advanced imaging and computational methods.
Requirements
– PhD in neuroscience, vascular biology, or a related field
– Expertise in anatomical and functional investigation of the cerebrovasculature is highly desirable
– Experience in computer programming (e.g., Matlab, Python), neuroinformatics, and/or advanced microscopy tools is considered an asset but not required
– Strong motivation and willingness to engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary research

We aim now at extending this tool through the integration of novel deep learning techniques for the identification and characterization of small, flexible proteins within their natural surroundings. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of these new methodologies, as well as to the ongoing development and maintenance of the software. Additionally, they will be involved in the analysis of cryoET datasets provided by external collaborators.
Ideal candidates for these positions must hold an official degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar, and has a strong background in Matlab. An interest in carrying research in Life Sciences is assumed.
