Predoctoral contract – HOST MICROORGANISM INTERACTIONDr. Ana Borrajo (Researcher Ramón y Cajal) who is part of the MICROORGANISM-HOST INTERACTION research group. PROTEOMICS OF THE HUMAN MICROBIOTA of the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Pharmacy (UCM), OFFERS a predoctoral contract to carry out Doctoral Thesis in a multidisciplinary team that integrates researchers from different specialties and leads studies in research on the pathogen Candida albicans.The topic of the research deals with the study of the mechanism of apoptosis or programmed cell death in C. albicans. To do this, functional analyzes of proteins involved in apoptosis (Oye 2 and Oye 32) will be carried out by constructing the mutants of C. albicans lacking the OYE2 and OYE32 genes using CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) technology. We will also perform in vitro interaction models (C. albicans-macrophage) to elucidate the virulence mechanisms of the yeast, as well as the phagocyte response aimed at the destruction of the pathogen, and targeted proteomics techniques that allow the identification and quantification of low-abundant proteins in complex samples, which can help to better understanding of biological processes or the detection of biomarkers.IS REQUIRED:-Bachelor's degree or degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or similar.-Be in possession of a Master's degree.IT WILL BE VALUED:-Have an average grade equal to or greater than 7.5 out of 10 on your official academic record.-Experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, Western, etc.), cell cultures and CRISPR technology.-Experience in data analysis and bioinformatics tools.-Motivation, independence and ability to work as a team.If you meet the requirements and are interested, send us your CV by email indicating in the subject the ref.:PREDOC-2023-CAND.
