About the Role
As Senior Business Development Manager, you will lead my client’s commercial market entry and early-stage growth in new markets. You will identify high-impact opportunities, establish strategic partnerships, and define the go-to-market approach. This is a foundational role with significant influence on long-term success. You will build the commercial groundwork required for scale by creating early traction, developing key relationships, and generating market insight that informs future strategy and expansion.
Responsibilities
Go-to-Market Strategy
- Define and execute go-to-market strategies, including channels, target segments, pricing, and partner ecosystems
- Identify and prioritise market entry routes such as wholesalers, installers, utilities, and automotive partners
- Build structured launch plans covering positioning, value propositions, sequencing, and commercial priorities
- Translate market insights into actionable initiatives across Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Support
- Ensure alignment with global commercial strategy and product roadmap
Business Development & Sales
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of early-stage commercial opportunities
- Identify, develop, and negotiate partnerships with key ecosystem players (utilities, wholesalers, installers, automotive, and technology partners)
- Lead proposals, negotiations, and initial commercial agreements
- Secure key customers and foundational partnerships to accelerate market adoption
- Ensure all commercial activities meet financial, operational, and legal standards
Market Research & Intelligence
- Analyse market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory environments
- Provide regular insights and recommendations to senior leadership
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities and recommend proactive commercial positioning
- Ensure market intelligence feeds into broader commercial planning and product development
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Sales Operations, Legal, and Customer Support to support coordinated market entry
- Represent my client at industry events, partner meetings, and commercial engagements
- Act as the primary link between external partners/customers and internal teams
- Support the foundation for future team growth and step into leadership responsibilities as the business scales
Qualifications
- Proven commercial or business development experience in energy, mobility, EV charging, or related technology sectors
- Strong understanding of energy and mobility markets
- Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue, and close commercial opportunities
- Strong analytical capabilities, including market assessment and business case development
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, build from the ground up, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Fluent in English and at least one relevant regional language
