WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Risk Manager to join our CISO organization. As part of the Cyber Security Risk Management team, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of our cyber security risk management framework.
You will be a part of our Cyber Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Product Family, which is the pilar of the second Line of Defense (2LoD) and manages the Cyber Security Framework for the whole BASF Group, following a risk-based approach. One major part of that is to develop and implement risk management tools, policies, and procedures in line with ISO 27001 and other relevant standards. Your core responsibilities will be:
- Provide support to Asset Owners and Risk Owners to facilitate the operationalization of Cyber Risk Management -related processes.
- Foster collaboration with our global Risk Community, by actively gathering their feedback, while effectively communicating updates and enhancements to ensure alignment and engagement.
- Provide awareness materials and moderate training sessions on Cyber Security Risk Management to promote continuous learning and compliance towards BASF Business Units.
- Derive new processes or pilots to strengthen GRC in response to the evolving threat landscape.
- Conduct research on new threats by leveraging different sources such as Google Threat Intelligence or Dragos
- Execute strategic risk assessments on-demand to identify and evaluate emerging risks that could negatively affect or harm BASF
- Maintain and improve the toolset that our team provides (RSA Archer, Power BI, Knowledge Base within SharePoint)
- Aggregate operational risks and translate asset-specific risks to generic risk scenarios on enterprise level to support senior management reporting and strategic as well as tactical decision-making.
- Support the lifecycle update of group-wide cyber security governance regulations based on generic BASF risk landscape.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support compliance of risk management processes with ISMS according to ISO 27001 and other relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with Asset Owners and Risk Owners to maintain a risk register and associated risk treatment plans up to date
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management controls and support the reporting of significant risks to senior management
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
- University degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience with developing, implementing, and maintaining an ISMS based on ISO 27001 or other relevant standards
- Profound experience in cyber security, particularly in GRC and cyber security risk management
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, frameworks and practices, especially in the field of risk aggregation as well as definition and evaluation of generic risks on enterprise level
- Experience with risk assessments, cyber threats and vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to cyber security
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal team members and cross-functional teams Internal
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC are a plus

Our global Cyber Security organization, headed by the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), has the task of protecting BASF´s IT and OT systems from hacker attacks and ensuring information security. We reduce the expected threat level with our strategic and operational activities. With dedicated projects we significantly increase the maturity of cyber security in the entire organization.
We aim to secure the digital transformation in a sustainable way while supporting our customers and stakeholders as partners. It is our goal to enable and support the business by empowering employees to work in a secure way without unnecessary barriers and by raising awareness on information protection.
You will be a part of our product family Cyber Engineering & Identity and Access Management (IAM) Solutions which manages the digital identity lifecycle, offers BASF-wide standard authentication and authorization services, and provides solutions related to data and device security.
The Device & Data Security Team finds, designs, implements and continuously improves security solutions to constantly mitigate cyber security threat scenarios on workplace devices and mobile phones for BASF to a well-balanced level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide hands-on support to the team in security engineering activities.
- Implement and manage endpoint security solutions, including EDR and antivirus technologies.
- Automate tasks to enhance security processes and improve reporting efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor´s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency in IT security principles and practices. Equivalent experience in BASF cyber-security roles such as cyber-security champion, risk observer, or officer of automation security is also considered valuable.
- Strong analytical skills to accurately identify issues, develop viable solutions, and present them effectively.
- Agile mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation in a dynamic technological environment.
- Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of German or Spanish is advantageous.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or PowerShell and AI APIs is considered an asset.

As a Senior Specialist Cyber Security (SIEM) in the Cyber Defense Applications GDS/DD unit, you process complex requirements and changes and support end users in solving problems while taking into account and complying with existing SLAs, KPIs and OLAs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• You will plan, install, configure and operate complex IT systems, support your Team members during error analysis and advise end users on problem solving.
• The security application systems in your area of responsibility include SIEM QRADAR, Azure Sentinel, XDR, OTRS and Stack Storm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with product stakeholders to understand business needs, transform them into technical specifications, and estimate resources and timelines.
- Develop and maintain features within the Stibo STEP platform, including customization of workflows, business rules (JavaScript), WebUI, and data model configurations.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while participating in code reviews to ensure adherence to development standards and maintainability.
- Use Azure DevOps to manage code repositories, development tasks, and implement CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure high system quality and performance by applying continuous testing, monitoring, and optimization strategies, including implementing security and access controls.
- Support issue resolution, debug and troubleshoot problems within the STEP environment, and document solutions and technical progress.
- Contribute to data integration activities by identifying, modelling, and linking internal and external data sources within the STEP architecture.
- Actively engage in BASF development communities, promoting knowledge exchange and innovation around digital product development and data-driven solutions.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
- 2+ years of experience in technical development, configuration, and customization of Stibo STEP modules.
- Solid understanding of PIM and MDM principles, with practical experience in STEP workflows, attributes, WebUI customization, and business rules.
- Experience in working with shared and customized STEP environments, with knowledge of the tool´s core and advanced functionalities.
- Familiarity with STIBO reporting/monitoring functions and good awareness of best practices in MDM/PIM development.
- Proficient in JavaScript for business rules and comfortable with data modeling concepts in product/customer domains.
- Hands-on experience with agile development tools, especially Azure DevOps, including version control and CI/CD setup.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus.
- Stibo Systems certification is a plus.
