Master student - Value assessment and benefits of climate services (R0) at Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

Responsibilities

Calibration, downscaling and verification of climate predictions following stakeholders' requirements.

Value assessment.

Team work: Interaction with scientists in the group and the department to favor synergies.

Qualifications

Education

: Conducting a Degree/Master in Physics, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics (or equivalent).

Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience

: Bachelor student in engineering, physics, mathematics or related field; Experience with climatic statistical analyses; Advanced skills in scientific programming in a suitable language (e.g. R, Python, Matlab) and familiarity with working in a UNIX environment; Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Ability and willingness to work in a professional environment within a multidisciplinary and international team.

Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience

: Previous experience working with climate data; Assessment of extreme events.

Competences

: Problem-solving, proactive, result-oriented work attitude; Capability to work in an international and fast-paced work environment; Good communication skills.

Conditions

The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department.

Duration: 6 months.

Starting date: 01/02/2026.

Recruitment process

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system (Concurso-Oposición).

The process consists of two phases: Curriculum Analysis (40 points) and Interview phase (60 points).

A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible.

The recruitment panel will ensure gender representation and a diverse committee.
