A Research Scientist position is required in the Brain Metastasis Group to lead a major research line on the precision medicine for brain metastases. The candidate must lead the project from experimental work to its publication/s and interaction with collaborations. Additionally, the candidate will co-supervise a PhD student. Furthermore, the Research Scientist position will require to maintain a competitive profile able to attract funding compatible with this position and following the strategic research program of the laboratory.

Selection Criteria

• Degree Pharmacy (9 or above) Master Biochemistry, Biomedicine and Molecular Biology (8 or above). PhD Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Cum Laude).
• Postdoctoral experience of at least 8 years on brain metastasis reaserch.
• Stays abroad at least in two different institutions.
• Research projects on cancer signalling, tumor microenvironment, immunotherapy, brain metastases.
• Evidence of personal funding: PhD fellowship and Postdoc fellowship.
• Evidence of productivity: at least 5 first author paper, including high impact manuscripts.
• Evidence of excellence: awards during PhD and postdoc, participation in ERC projects.
• Evidence of relevance in the field of interest: at least ten invitations as a speaker to conferences.
• Evidence of supervising trainees: at least supervision of 5 trainees, including a PhD student.
• Evidence of independence: at least one co-corresponding paper.
• Evidence of knowledge of the field: reviews, organization of conferences, reviewer for journals/ grants.
• Evidence of translational research: clinical trials, patents. Evidence of social compromise.

Common laboratory techniques for DNA, RNA and protein manipulation. Duolink. Amplification and sequencing. Eukaryotic cells handling (primary cells, cell lines and 3D models). Organotypic culture from mice and human. Sample preparation for single cell analysis. Seahorse analysis. Extensive knowledge in flow cytometry and confocal microscopy, including data processing. Animal experimentation highlighting bioluminescence in preclinical models, brain colonization assays by intracardiac and intracranial injection and drugs administration by different routes. Extensive experience with image editing software (ImageJ, Fiji) and statistic software (Graphpad).
