The Position
The Opportunity:
The Global Medical Collaboration Leader (GMCL) is a medical, field-based role working across countries and affiliates to accelerate the development and delivery of medicines to patients through effective medical customer engagement across the lifecycle of a molecule/Disease Area (Obesity). The GMCL:
- Acts as a strategic field-based medical partner for global teams and affiliate colleagues
- Understands the needs and supports strategic and tactical planning across the Disease Area (DA) lifecycle
- Serves as an above-country medical expert, establishing scientific collaborations and value-based partnerships
- Supports medicines and disease areas from early development through to post-approval
As a field-based GMCL, you will have 5 key responsibilities but not limited to:
Develop and Facilitate External Network & Relationships, Championing ONE Roche
- Establish and maintain valued relationships with key external stakeholders, acting as the face of Roche and ambassador in new Disease Areas
- Drive scientific knowledge exchange and medical education activities, identifying opportunities for medical initiatives and partnerships to support the ICX strategy for optimal customer experience
- Execute activities with customer centricity, staying updated on relevant developments and trends, including Digital Health and personalized medicine
- Work closely with global and affiliate teams to ensure coordinated identification, selection, and engagement of clinical trial sites, championing a ONE ROCHE approach
- Drive scientific engagement with clinical trial sites to support patient recruitment and retention, while suggesting innovative approaches to design, recruitment, and data collection
- Gather investigator feedback to optimize clinical development performance and customer experience, contributing to identifying data gaps and supporting access activities
- Partner with internal colleagues to define the insights collection strategy and execute activities to address knowledge gaps through various methods such as advisory boards and external surveys
- Map and profile external stakeholders to inform and build engagement plans aligned with customer needs and preferences, including research and collaboration interests
- Build a comprehensive understanding of the local environment, proactively updating the organization on disease area developments, competitive landscape, clinical practices, and patient/carer experiences
- Act as a disease area champion, supporting affiliate engagement and training activities to accelerate understanding of the disease area ecosystem and align with global strategy
- Support and drive local implementation of field-based activities within the Integrated Strategy Plan in collaboration with global and affiliate colleagues
- Serve as an above-country medical enabler, engaging with TAEs, sharing medical expertise, training local staff, and facilitating relationships to support launch and access in affiliates
- Foster innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit to enhance customer engagement and experience, while contributing to a psychologically safe and feedback-rich working environment
- Ensure efficient collaboration, sharing best practices, and maintains high scientific standards by supporting onboarding and continuous learning activities for team members
You are a driven individual with strong scientific & commercial acumen who thrives working in an empowered, dynamic and agile working environment and able to understand relationships, create purposeful strong internal/external collaborations with key stakeholders to enable better outcomes for customers.
You have:
- Master Degree in science or related field; Postgraduate Degree (PhD, PharmD, MSc, MD, MBA) a plus
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry
- Significant experience in a global or local medical/scientific field customer-facing role is required, and in addition strategic medical affairs experience (medical strategy) is preferred
- Track record of scientific collaborations with external experts and/or collaborative groups
- Deep scientific knowledge of the assigned Disease Area (Obesity/Diabetes/Metabolism) is required
- Knowledge of relevant drug development process, including regulatory requirements, trends, and drug approval is preferred
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish & English is required
- Solid knowledge of drug safety/pharmacovigilance and Roche internal SOPs related to drug safety;
