Tasks and Responsibilities

• Create, Design, Code, Build, Run
• Work with an interdisciplinary teams in the area of Autonomous Systems as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer or Software Engineer.
• Work across disciplines to bring End2End AI solutions into practical use, with a particular challenge always being to ensure the quality and reliability expected by Mercedes-Benz at all points.
• Focus is on NLP, formal semantics, deep learning, and machine learning on structured data or robotics & assurance.
• Work on projects, which address diverse aspects of the Mercedes-Benz value chain, from internal information management or customer data management to autonomous driving and workshop process optimization.
• Work with diverse new technologies and methods from the fields of AI and cloud native software development. E.g. TensorFlow, Pytorch, XGBoost, Spark, Jena, development with Python, JavaScript and Kotlin, the use and configuration of cloud environment on Azure, AWS and in future GCP.
• Most of the projects are in the context of Supervised Machine Learning, but Generative AI is also rapidly gaining momentum.
• The tasks can be extended to include requirements management, product or project management

Education

Completed master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, demonstrating in-depth and specialized knowledge in Computer Science.

Languages:

• Proficiency in English is mandatory (C1 level or equivalent)
• German knowledge is desirable

Required IT-Skills and experience:

• Excellent programming skills, with Python, SQL, Kotlin or Scala. JavaScript and frontend (React) enthusiasm is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge in Machine Learning, NLP, semantic knowledge representation, Deep Learning and Computer Science is necessary.
• Experience in projects within the world of cloud native development - ideally with Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP. Kubernetes (including AKS) and (Azure) Databricks.
• Very good understanding of Cloud DevOps approach and technologies.
• Software quality – Testing and work with security, reliability and scalability.
• Experience bringing End2End AI solutions into practical use.
• Experience with formal semantics, deep learning, machine learning on structured data or robotics & assurance.

• Must rapidly build trust and credibility with supplier and customer.
• Must be a quick study and self-starter, able to roll up sleeves and manage hands-on in a team environment.
