The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) invites applications for the position of Research Project Management Support Technician. Under the coordination of the Head of the Research Office, the selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for various research projects. The role will involve supporting the coordination, monitoring, and management of research projects, ensuring that they stay on schedule, within budget, and meet the required standards. It also includes leveraging data management tools to assist different units within IBEI. In particular, the selected candidate will carry out the following responsibilities and duties:
1. Project Management
- Support for the coordination and oversight of research projects.
- Ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Monitoring progress and addressing any issues that arise.
- Preparing and assisting with financial audits.
- Support in the execution of economic reports and justifications and the timely submission of scientific reports and deliverables.
2. Funding and Grant Management
- Identifying funding opportunities and assisting researchers in securing grants.
- Managing grant applications, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements.
- Support and liaise with the Granting Authority once the grant has been awarded.
- Support in the resolution of administrative and financial issues with the funding entities.
3. Reporting and Documentation
- Preparing and submitting progress reports to funding agencies.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of research activities, outcomes, and publications.
- Managing the allocation of resources, including, equipment, and personnel.
- Providing administrative support to researchers, such as handling logistics and procurement.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of research papers and reports.
4. Compliance, Ethics and Risk Management
- Ensuring research activities comply with institutional, governmental, and ethical guidelines.
- Overseeing the preparation and submission of necessary regulatory documents.
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with research activities.
The requirements for this position are the following:
- Education: University degree.
- Experience working with European Union (Horizon Europe, Erasmus +), national (AEI and Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades) and regional (AGAUR) funding mechanisms.
- Proven project management experience, particularly in research environments (R&D Centers. Universities, etc).
- Data Management: Strong experience in managing research data, including data organization, cleaning, and validation.
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
- Experience with research data management tools and software (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, data visualization tools).
- Proficiency with research management software and tools.
- Advance user of office software (Google and Microsoft Office package).
- Language skills: English, Spanish and Catalan
- Soft skills:
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach with the ability to take initiative and drive projects forward.
