Job Description

POLITICO is looking for a distinctive, scoopy journalist to put us on the map in Spain by bringing reporting on Spanish politics and policy to our English-language coverage of Europe.

We provide non-partisan, distinctive journalism for politics and policy obsessives across North America and Europe. Now we want to boost our coverage into Spain with our first full-time correspondent.

This reporting role will be an authority on what is happening behind the scenes, helping our readers, who have a professional stake in politics, get ahead with exclusive stories on what is driving Spanish politics and policy.

The role would suit a scoop-hungry, energetic journalist with deep interest in Spanish politics and a love of exclusive details that set the agenda. This reporter will need to be able to speak to all sides across the political divide in order to be trusted by readers to offer a fair, authoritative and fun perspective on who and what is driving decision-making.

Who You Are

• You're a politics obsessive with a demonstrable interest in politics and policy, most importantly in Spain
• You are highly collaborative, comfortable working across teams and with colleagues from many geographies
• You have a strong desire to produce deeply reported, non-partisan journalism for insiders
• You are a clear, quick writer in English
• You have a strong desire to be part of a team, both as we build POLITICO in Spain and as you connect well with colleagues elsewhere
  
  

What You’ll Do

• You'll develop exclusive stories and original ideas on what is driving Spanish politics and policy
• You'll be a partner for teams across Europe, providing deeply reported material to feed coverage for both our consumer website and our policy subscription service, POLITICO Pro
• You'll continuously develop deep sourcing and demonstrate the excellent judgment needed to launch POLITICO into the Spanish market
