Description
The BETA Technology Centre comprises a young, multidisciplinary team of 140 people, including research and technical staff, and is seeking to recruit a dynamic individual with initiative and organisational skills, keen to be part of this project.
We are looking for a European Competitive Projects Specialist to join the centre’s management team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, coordination and monitoring of European competitive projects, working alongside the research staff in charge of the projects to ensure their proper implementation in accordance with the deadlines, requirements and objectives set by each funding body.
This is a role specialising in Research Management and Administration (RMA), focused on comprehensive project management.
The successful candidate will play a key role in project management throughout its implementation, ensuring effective coordination between internal teams, consortium partners and funding agencies.
In the case of coordinated projects, the successful candidate will act as Project Manager / RMA specialist, liaising between consortium members, the funding agency and internal teams, particularly in the areas of operational coordination, administrative monitoring, compliance with requirements and support for the overall implementation of the project.
They may also manage non-coordinated European projects and may participate in the preparation of funding proposals linked to the strengthening and development of the office itself, as well as in the implementation of the office’s internal projects.
Functions And Duties
Active involvement in the end-to-end management of competitive European projects, from launch through to closure.
Tasks Include
- Involvement in project launch and in defining internal monitoring and implementation mechanisms.
- Preparation, review and management of project agreements (Grant Agreement, Consortium Agreement) and any potential changes or amendments.
- Technical and operational monitoring of the project in collaboration with the project lead partner (IP): planning of deliverables, reports, milestones, results and timelines, and risk monitoring.
- Organisation and facilitation of meetings and events related to the project, both internal and with external partners.
- Coordination of communication flows between consortium members, as well as with the funding body, and support with project-related document management.
- Overall monitoring of project resources and the budget, in coordination with the relevant departments, to ensure the project is carried out correctly.
- Responsible for the processes of justification, reporting and audit preparation, in coordination with and with the support of other staff and units involved.
- Recording, maintaining and updating project information in internal management tools.
- Providing methodological and operational support to junior staff within the organisation on matters relating to project management and monitoring.
- Participating in the delivery of strategic projects within the project office and in the consolidation of project management processes, tools and criteria.

According to Spanish Royal Decree 889/2022, recognition of qualifications issued abroad qualifies for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain.
If you apply for a teaching and research staff (PDI) or 100% research staff (PI) post without official recognition of the qualification required in the call, you should submit a declaration of equivalence issued in Spain, together with a Spanish translation of your qualification. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.
If you apply for a professional services staff (PTGAS) post without the required recognised university degree, you may submit a declaration of equivalence of your degree in Spain, together with a translation of the degree into Spanish. The application for this declaration is also valid, subject to a commitment to submit the declaration of equivalence itself within a period of 3 years at most. If the requirement is not met within this period, the contract will be terminated in accordance with Article 49 (b) of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23rd October, approving the revised text of the Workers’ Statute.
If you hold a recognised Spanish master’s degree, you may qualify for hiring, but this will not exempt you from the requirement to submit a declaration of equivalence of the qualification in the call.
If you submit a non-university qualification, when call provisions allow for this, you should include recognition of the qualification in accordance with the specific regulatory framework of the country of origin.
Title
A degree or bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the subject of the call for applications
Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.
Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.
- Previous experience (at least two years) in managing competitive European research projects.
- Knowledge of European and international R&D&I funding programmes, particularly Horizon Europe.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience in a university or research centre setting.
- Organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Merits
- A university degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, engineering, social sciences, law or a related field.
- PhD.
- Experience in coordinating consortia for the development of European projects.
- C1 level in English.
- Knowledge of Spanish and Catalan R&D&I funding programmes.
- Additional training in research management and knowledge transfer.
