Game Designer | Candy Crush Saga
King · Barcelona, ES
.
Craft:
Games Design & Production
Job Description:
We’re looking for a creative game designer - someone who balances creativity with analytical thinking to help craft fun, purposeful and engaging gameplay experiences for millions of players in an industry leading and genre defining game.
Your role within the Kingdom
As a Game Designer in the Core Gameplay area of Candy Crush Saga, you’ll work within clear strategic and product frameworks to discover and design gameplay solutions. You’ll work under the guidance of senior product managers and designers to explore new gameplay opportunities and learn to frame and solve product problems through design, bringing new ideas to life and continuously improving our core play experience.
This role is ideal for someone who blends creative design thinking with the desire to develop a strong product mindset: a designer who loves to experiment, analyze and refine within clear goals and constraints; who is as motivated by player delight as by data-driven insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and support the discovery process for strategic bets related to player gameplay experience.
- Design solid and engaging game features that serve both player engagement and product strategy.
- Create, validate and operate levels to delight the players and contribute to the business goals.
- Provide clear, structured documentation that communicates design intent and system logic effectively.
- Operate effectively within constraints, designing impactful solutions inside established systems and priorities.
- Analyze performance of released features and use data and player feedback to iterate and improve.
- Collaborate across disciplines to explore, ideate and refine ideas grounded in player research and business strategy.
- Stay ahead of market trends in casual and F2P design, bringing new ideas and perspectives to the team.
- Contribute to the overall design craft, ensuring your features integrate smoothly into the wider Candy Crush ecosystem.
- Innovative: You can conceptualize, document and develop creative yet feasible gameplay solutions that improve the player experience.
- Product-minded: You see design as problem-solving. Your goal is to understand how to balance creativity, player value and measurable impact.
- Analytical: You use research, data and insights to inform decisions, validate hypotheses and refine solutions.
- Collaborative: You thrive in multidisciplinary environments and can support diverse teams around a shared area vision.
- Player-focused: You’re eager to learn directly from player behavior and feedback to identify what truly engages them.
- Comfortable with constraints: You view boundaries not as limitations but as design opportunities that sharpen creativity.
- Strong communicator: You can clearly articulate rationale, value and trade-offs to stakeholders.
- Growth mindset: You’re constantly looking to improve, open to feedback, eager to learn new skills and driven to help others grow with you.
- Experience designing gameplay systems or mechanics for large-scale F2P games.
- Experience designing levels for large-scale puzzle games.
- Familiarity with live operations and iterative development cycles.
At King, we design for millions - but we think about every player. You’ll work in a culture that values collaboration, curiosity and continuous learning. You’ll have the chance to experiment, grow and make a lasting mark on one of the world’s most iconic games.
