The Thermal PhotoniX (TPX) Lab at the University of Houston is seeking applications for fully funded PhD positions to begin in Spring 2026 or Fall 2026. The lab specializes in advanced research in the fields of thermal radiation, nanophotonics, energy conversion, and quantum effects in photonics. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to internationally recognized projects published in leading scientific journals.
Research Areas Include
– Thermal photonics and plasmonics
– Photon-mediated heat engines and refrigerators
– Radiative properties: tunability, nonreciprocity, and symmetry
– Electronic, photonic, and thermal circuits
– Solar energy harvesting and radiative cooling
– Quantum effects in photon transport
– Enhanced radiative heat transfer and related topics
Requirements
– Strong academic background in Physics, Material Science, Optics, Thermal Science, or Photonics
